This deck started out as a commander deck, and I quickly realized that planeswalkers usually become insta-targets no matter the board-state. So, even if I was clearly not the threat, my planeswalkers would always inevitably die before I could pop them off. Then the thought hit me: PROLIFERATE. However, the amount of cards with proliferate I could feasibly add to my commander deck with RUG didn't change my chances of being able to successfully run planeswalkers; I just couldn't justify it. So I took my planeswalkers out, and decided they would do perfectly well in a 60-card deck. This style would do better in Modern with the Mirrodin block having more options such as Contagion Engine and Inexorable Tide , but I like the idea of Pioneer, since RtR was the current set when I first got into Magic, and there are plenty of viable ways to add the Proliferate mechanic with the WAR set, so here we are! Along with the rule change of planeswalkers no longer being players, several removal spells have been safely removed (haha) from a list of possible counters.
