Time Spiral Block Constructed

Note: There aren't really enough pieces to make the dredge deck work. Not enough payoffs. Dakmor Salvage and bridge from below are good, but there aren't enough dredge creatures. The best thing to do with this strategy might be to stock the graveyard for a living end... (maybe)

There might be a way to build a madness deck in this format. Aggro = seems bad. Midrange = seems okay with the amount of red removal. Control = Would have to play blue. If going toward control, a full on madness build seems worse than a full on control deck. Maybe just have some fodder for the blue draw/discard.

Cards with Madness -Big Game Hunter -> Great against green stompy. Kills power 4 or greater for one B -Call to the netherworld -> returns black creature card to hand for 0. Card advantage if we can use it -Dark withering -> destroy non-black creature for one B -Fiery Temper -> bolt -Gorgon Recluse -> dorky 2/4 creature for 5 that and be a combat trick and kills non-black. Not as good as removal. -Grave Scrabbler -> creature value engine -> grave crawler for 2 mana -Nightshade Assassin -> 2/1 first strike that can be removal in a mono black deck. Not great otherwise -Reckless Wurm - > 4/4 trample for 3. Great rate but kinda dorky

Madness Enablers (discard): -Careful Consideration -> draw 4, discard 3 at instant speed or discard 2 at sorcery speed. Good churning with madness -Conflagrate -> good removal/finisher but not really madness focused -Jaya Ballard -> planeswalker like creature that requires discard for effects. Good sb card. -Lightning axe -> premium removal spell

Summary Not really a madness deck here. Just nice value for including some madness in a control deck. Maybe Grixis? Careful Consideration and Lightning Axe are strongest enablers with fiery temper and dark withering the best payoffs

If grixis, mana fixing is as follows:

Urborg for Black Terramorphic Expanse to fetch and basic River of Tears is base blue but can produce black Graven Cairns can filter red and black Gemstone mines produces any color but not good for control... doesnt work with urborg Tolaria West can tutor removal or counter (pacts) seems great. Molten Slagheap and Dreadship Reef produce colorless but can color fix and store mana. Super slow and pretty bad fixing.

Card Draw: -Ancestral Vision? slow but powerful effect. Card like pull from eternity hose this -Aeon Chronicler? pretty good source of card advantage late game. Good mirror card -Careful consideration is a draw 4 that is also a madness enabler -Forsee is also 4 mana but sorcery speed scry 4 draw two. Digs deeper but not as flexible as consideration -Shadowmage infiltrator -> has fear so semi-unblockable. A good sb card against control -Think Twise is a can trip that has flashback... a little pricey but instant speed -Mystical teachings -> can find removal or threats with flash... really good... can find silver bullets from sb in game 2 ->flashback

Counter magic: -Cancel -> makes us more blue heavy -Delay -> Delays spell for 3 turns for 1 B... not bad -Logic Knot -> scalable mana leak with delve. Limited range with not fetch lands... -Nix -> counters suspend spells -> could be good sideboard against djanky decks but probably too narrow -Spell Burst can be pretty good as a few of -Draining Whelk -> Flash target that is tutorable and counters spell and gets counters for CMC. A little expensive.

Threats: If swamp/urborg heavy, korlash is great against non-damnation control decks... (but why?) Dralnu is super grindy and can give spells flashback. A good maindeck card that must be answered. Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir-> Great card that can enable other flash creatures. Might enable wizard subtheme with voidmage prodigy??? Triple blue is tough on the mana but probably worth it Venser, Shaper Savant -> Great bounce spell game delayer Draining Whelk -> good value. A worse mystic snake, but tutorable.

Any beefy threat that is black? Tombstalker? (still dies to lava axe)

SB hate cards: more counter spells more color specific board wipes/removal Yixlid Jailer -> kinda hoses us too... pull into eternity if we play white

Removal: -Slaughter pact -> free and amazing (limited to non-black removal)... alot of cards are like this and red removal is only okay. Shadowmage infiltrator and dralnu might be great in the format -Damnation -Death Rattle has delve but super pricey. 6 mana. can kill black creatures well... dont need much removal against them -Strangling soot - efficient kills toughness 3 or less with red flashback -> how good against rg? -Dark withering = more removal for rg

White removal Sunlance (not good against mono red)

Good red removal? -Disintegrate -> fireball -Lightning axe -> 5 damage -Fiery Temper -> bolt -Sudden shock -Rift bolt -> suspend bolt

Pandemonium is amazing in rg decks against control... need enchantment removal?

Can play teferi's moat!

we are playing esper! red green is a great deck and those enchantments hose me (stormbind and pandemonium) and teferi's moat is AMAZING

Playing disenchant and teferi's moat is worth playing white instead of red. Red has two great removal spells, but I am in black. A lot of non-black removal which is good against most of the format. However we do lose the graven cairns land and lose out on the better removal in the format, but we have a way better chance against their long term plan. Fixing is AWFUL outside of teramorphic expanse...
