I originally made this deck just to abuse the
Worldgorger Dragon
+
Animate Dead
/
Dance of the Dead
combo as I had the cards in my collection, and it seemed a waste not using them. After a few years, its now become the decklist I give to friends who say they want a functional deck but don't want to spend lots of $. (To be fair, most of them are the image of debt-laden college students working full or almost full-time along with classes.)
Worldgorger Dragon Combo Primer
For those unfamiliar with the combo, it goes something like this:
First, make sure
Worldgorger Dragon
and another creature is in your graveyard. (If the combo goes off without a creature besides
Worldgorger Dragon
in your graveyard, you'll just stall out the game with no way to end it.)
Following the text on the enchantments you used to reanimate the nightmare dragon, you then bury it back in the graveyard as the enchantment is no longer attacked, and everything you exiled comes back into play, including the enchantment. Naturally, it wants a target, and can choose
Worldgorger Dragon
or the other creature card in your graveyard. You want to choose the nightmare dragon.
The trick is, each time your lands come back from exile, tap them to add mana to your mana pool, and repeat the process as many times as you want for infinite mana. When you've done this enough, choose to reanimate the creature that isn't
Worldgorger Dragon
, and spend the mana how you see fit.
In this case, I'm running
Bloodrite Invoker
and
Valakut Invoker
. Repeatedly pay 8 mana, and burn/drain your foes until you're the last one standing. And hey, with near-infinite mana, 8 is a very, very small number.
Use counterspells to stop any attempts at killing the nightmare dragon during the combo, as if it dies while the EtB trigger is resolving, then its second ability won't trigger and your permanents won't return from exile. (At that point, you will usually die.)
Go ahead and give this an upvote if you want more cheap, infinite brokenness. (Come on, you know you want to.)
