how do you feel about the awesome spoilers adding to this deck? gudul lurker and stratus dancer both belong here.

Maybe consider Military Intelligence for cheaper card draw than the bident. Also, could you find more room for the hall of triumph, i feel like it does a lot of work here.
March 7, 2015 1:08 a.m.
Loving it! I was really hurt when my Mono-Blue Devotion rotated. I kept playing it post rotation but it wasn't as good (was for 2 or 3 weeks though).
I find Military Intelligence should make it's way into the deck because it's cheaper card draw than the Bident...sure the Bident supplies an extra but I think even Master of Waves for even 4 or 5 on turn 4 or 5 is still pretty good. Then you just play Hall of Triumph to save the tokens from death. The only problem I see with this right now...is the fact that Ultimate Price is back...that just makes me groan when I think about playing Master of Waves. How do you plan to deal with that? Maybe just counterspells like Negate, or Dissolve, maybe Monastery Siege?

@ESTABAUSS and IzzetGod, thanks for the comment!
Military Intelligence would be a good card for the deck I'm sure, but I think it would compete with the 8 2-drop creatures (I would play the creatures first anytime). The 3 mana slot is also heavily taxed by 8 creatures and Hall of Triumph so still turn 3 I'd want to play other things instead. Also note that by turn 3 is when any deck starts removing creatures, considering we are the one playing aggro I wouldn't be surprised to see my opponent take a control role and remove my second creature. Furthermore, Military Intelligence only nets one card per turn while Bident of Thassa can net you 2-3 cards and in some occasions 5+ with the elemental tokens! I see Military Intelligence like a win more card, whereas Bident of Thassa is more like a win condition! I think the best advantage to using Military Intelligence is that its low cost can let you make a 2 card play by turn 3 or 4.
On Ultimate Price... I don't think people will be running 4 mainboard, but it will surely show up in any deck splashing black. So... it will ultimately make Abzan and Mardu have better matchups against us (Bile Blight was too mana intensive for them). Anyways, first thing you've got to understand is that the deck is very linear strategy wise, so sideboarding counter spells mainboard should be done with caution. Actually, I don't recommend bringing them in unless you face either a very controlish build or an aggro deck that's even faster than yours. Anyways,Ultimate Price on Master of Waves is a removal less for something else! All decks run removal, and all creatures die to removal...

Not running full-art Zendikar soup-bowl Islands. 0/5
It's actually really fun, though.

Singing Bell Strike can be used as removal too. (Encrust doesn't tap the creature like Claustrophobia, so it can be pretty bad sometimes)
March 7, 2015 10:41 a.m.
Yeah well... Pretty much everything in this deck is less good than past Mono-Blue devotion. Encrust serves the spot there was for Domestication (not really the same I know but hey...) The thing I don't like about Singing Bell Strike is that it's a timebomb. The deck runs so few removal, when you're using one it's because the threat is highly dangerous. Usually, highly dangerous threats are at the top of an opponent's curve so tapping 6 mana two turns later isn't something I would be surprised to see. Encrust is not the best card I know, but I'd rather play this on a tapped creature and be sure it's under control than play Singing Bell Strike and fear my opponent making it to 6 mana. I'd also rather play this than a bounce effect (unless they print an instant that bounces nonland permanents)... Finally Encrust is incredibly good for devoting Thassa, God of the Sea!

How does this deck do against Doomwake Giant? In my play tests that card tends to wreck mono blue devotions builds a lot because it hits all your 1/1's, your 4/1 frost walkers, 2/1 elemental tokens, 1/1 syrens and the 2/1 vaporkins. Any suggestions on how to deal with this in game 1?
March 7, 2015 11:01 a.m.
ofcruelties Oh and... Not to mention that Encrust take care of Whip of Erebos!
March 7, 2015 11:01 a.m.
@Exiled_soul
Game 1? Not much to do... However Whip and G/B constellation are losing pace these days. Whip only runs 2 Doomwake Giant, and some have been leaving them out too. So the concern here is G/B constellation, in which Disdainful Stroke is a must game 2 against Doomwake Giant and Eidolon of Blossoms. The best advice I can give you is : game 1, stop dropping 1 toughness creatures by their 4th mana. Game 2, do the same unless you have a counter spell up!

Yes yes, Cloudform I had it in my Fate Reforged build. Shorecrasher Elemental took its spot for obvious reasons. What do you reccomend taking out for it? Taking out the 1 drops or Vaporkin would slow the deck by a lot...
March 7, 2015 11:44 a.m.
My blue elemental devotion deck has got Obelisk of Urd over Hall of Triumph and also Fated Infatuation is real good with Master of Waves andShorecrasher Elemental
March 7, 2015 11:50 a.m.
This deck was really good before we could supercharge thassa and master. Now we have a triple blue aetherling who is also an elemental!
March 7, 2015 11:54 a.m.
How about Stratus Dancer? Sure, it doesn't have any elemental synergies going on, but the late game potential is huge. And if Cloudform could be crammed in somehow, without slowing the deck down too much, that would leave the deck with 16 (potentially) colorless and evasive creatures. Feels like Ghostfire Blade would wreck in a deck like that.

blue devotion never died people just got to cowardice to play it. There was plenty of things in theros and khans to support it just a wee bit version of it. Honestly it makes me sad everything just gonna go so expensive for that deck again cause of dragons <.< and people who never played it before gonna sit and say how they love it and always played it
on a diffrent note yes the new support is awsome
March 7, 2015 3:43 p.m.
@blid
I've thought about Stratus Dancer. So I would be losing the elemental strategy for the morph counter ability....hummm I'm not sure how good that is. In draft this is so good, in constructed though..? Never been too fond of the Morph mechanic for competitive standard...
@smartfiredragon Haha a true devoted! Well.. I think that the loss of dual and triple really hindered the ''devotion'' strategy. There's also the loss of the ''removal''(if we can call that removal). Looking at the card pool, I think mono-blue still had some potential, however devotion became a more of a side strategy and other builds had to be made. I don't think it's a question of cowardice, I think people just assumed the deck was too weak to be more than tier 3...

ofcruelties and MLObenza,
I managed to fit 2 Cloudform by taking out 1 Gudul Lurker and 1 Vaporkin !

How has reality shift been for you? I've been working on a similar build and I have been swapping some copies for Singing Bell Strike. This is an aggro deck, so the bell strike's draw back hasn't been a concern, plus I like the added devotion bump it provides.
Also, I run Mindreaver instead of vaporkin. No flying or elemental boost, but the added devotion has been more than worth it.

Testing this a bit on untap.in
The deck is bonkers when you curve a Shorecrasher Elemental into a Master of Waves. So much fun!
Anger of the Gods or Drown in Sorrow can really hurt games 2-3, but the SB tech is fairly resilient dealing with it via counterspells.
Cloudform was okay for me in testing, but I'm wondering if you really need it mainboard. As it is you have plenty of stuff that can block flying. Yes, it can't be targeted, but....idk, we'll see. I saw some people bashing Encrust, but it was really helpful.
Reality Shift was fine, as you only cast it to remove something that would trash your attackers anyway, like a huge dragon. Exchanging a huge dragon for a 2/2 that might block one of your small elementals is a trade off I will do any day.
The only other thing I noticed is that it can really run out of steam if you don't draw Bident of Thassa. Thassa's scry helps a bit, I guess.
So I'm going to try:
+1 Bident, +1 Encrust, -2 Cloudform and see how that goes
Cloudform may go in as a SB card for me in place of Wall of Frost against control matchups or burn playing heavy removal. Wall of Frost is nice against aggro, but it's 3 mana and you can generally pace with aggro.
March 8, 2015 2:42 p.m.
Yes, I've been considering coming back to initial build (4x Gudul Lurker and 4x Vaporkin and taking out the cloudform. They have not been doing that good in playtests for me too.
I'm considering removing 1 Reality Shift and adding one Voyage's End. I'd be so glad if DTK releases a cheap instant bounce permanent (not creature only). Encrust has been doing good for me too. It ain't bonkers but it really helps devotion and shuts down a creature after it attacked.
The SB is indeed built to counter wrath effects!
Continue sharing your findings UpsetYoMama ! Thanks

Cloudform is one of the best cards in the deck. right now the standard format is about who can run the most removal and hexproof is the best thing you can do right now. I recommend running at least 3 cloudforms. I don't know if you need to run 4 of the new elemental like yeah it is good but it is not going to win you the game.

I don't know if it's by design or if it just slipped through the cracks, but you have 61 cards in here. Which one's the extra one if its a mistake, out of curiosity? I'm thinking about throwing this build together and trying out against a couple of my friend's red devo decks.
