Sooooooooo I dont Understand Why Thassa's Rebuff isn't in the Sideboard, as well as Dig Through Time/Treasure Cruise
Hall of Triumph - not sure how powerful this card is
March 11, 2015 2:47 p.m.
@xTCBxNightmare
Thassa's Rebuff is a dead card without devotion.
Dig Through Time and Treasure Cruise are not in the SB because I do not have any ways to fuel my graveyard. More importantly, this is Mono-Blue Devotion, not Mono-blue Aggro; 95% of the deck is geared towards devotion, that is why I draw cards by the use of Bident of Thassa and Monastery Siege as they serve devotion. DTT and TC are very powerful cards, but they don't fit this linear strategy.
Hall of Triumph is good against decks that run fewer removal spells (R/G and Green Devotion). With a board of 3-4 creatures, top-decking Hall of Triumph can close a game, or surprise opponents with a way stronger backswing than they expected.

In response to mirror mockery you can also target your own Master of Waves to give another boost and drop more elementals
March 11, 2015 6 p.m.
Wow, didn't think of the Bident and Mirror Mockery combo. Thanks for clearing it up!
March 12, 2015 8:44 a.m.
@blid, Mirror Mockery token does not have haste, so it would not be damaging the opponent, right? I don't grasp the combo... thanks in advance for clearing it up!
March 12, 2015 9:08 a.m.
Mirror Mockery and Master of Waves is not a hard combo to grasp. You attack with a master, and it clones itself and creates about 5-6 more tokens because you most likely have tons of devotion. Seems more like a win-more card and I would cut it.
March 12, 2015 4:43 p.m.
@Abubroki You can put it on their creatures and force it to attack and kill itself against its own mirror, or to trigger their ETB-effect.
March 12, 2015 5:25 p.m.
Everyone...Mirror Mockery is used to neutralize a threat before anything else. The Bident of Thassa synergy is great but low in probabilities, the Master of Waves combo is also very situational, like juicytoot mentionned doing that is just winning more. However, those small synergies add up in a deck and it's better than nothing!

Thank you all for clearing it up. I figured the Master of Waves combo but I was referring to the Bident of Thassa combo...
Sacrificing the Mirror Mockery which was enchanting an opponent creature, which is forced to attack with the bident to die against its token seems very situational and awfully a lot of card disadvantage... so I would need the bident and the mockery in play (with only 2 copies of the former and one of the latter in the deck!) and the open mana, all just to kill an opponent creature...
I'd rather include global effects, like Polymorphist's Jest, which can imply real card advantage by trading one or more big and board state-relevant creatures (Tasigur, Sidisi, Rhino, you name it) with our tokens. I agree though a couple of copies of Mirror Mockery deserve consideration, as they can clone the Master of Waves and generate more tokens to chump block or overwhelm the opponent, or be used to steal an ETB effect like the Rhino's or mirroring a big threat... Speaking of Polymorphist's Jest, I think it is going to be increasingly useful with the all upcoming dragons of DTK... Even if just a few of them see competitive constructed play, 1UU to kill them at instant speed with our tokens or wheenies (or a soon-to-be-exiled or pumped Shorecrasher Elemental seems to warrant inclusion to me...
Another thing I would try is Obelisk of Urd, as the tokens can help convoking it, and it helps protecting them against spot removal against the Master of waves, or Drown in Sorrow, though not against Anger of the Gods or Bile Blight...
Also, I would definitely include 2x Clever Impersonator among the 75 cards...

Have you seen Silumgar Sorcerer? Its adds to devotion and sacrificing a chump to keep your opponent from getting a creature out can come in handy. It might at least warrant SB consideration.

I just played my list at my fnm and went 3-1. Just lost in the finals to rabblemaster haha. Let me tell you guys that Shorecrasher Elemental is no joke. Playing it on 4 with one mana up is almost gg against any deck. The combination with nykthos is both bad and amazing. I got screwed a couple of times and it was annoying. But boy when i played him then next turn i played nykthos i would bestow hypnotic siren. Encase in Ice was really good. Stratus Dancer was alright. Gudul lurker was as good as you would expect. Silumgar sorcerer was also good.
March 29, 2015 12:41 p.m.
I went 4-1 again with a simiar list. Green decls couldnt interact, and black decks died to Shorecrasher Elemental.
March 29, 2015 9:37 p.m.
A singleton Clone Legion would be fun to cast off of Nykthos. Copies of your Master of Waves, corresponding tokens, and Shorecrasher Elementals pretty much grants you a win outside of boardwipe. It can also copy your opponent's army if they're ahead in the race.
March 30, 2015 10:49 a.m.
Hey JDMCRIB
Clone Legion is a sh*t load of mana, even with nykthos. At 6 devotion it's still a 6 mana spell (also at 6 devotion aren't we already winning the game?). I was thinking about AEtherspouts. What d'you think?
March 30, 2015 3:51 p.m.
I feel like Silumgar Sorcerer is worth considering. I'm not sure how good it would be in this, but it offers 2 devotion to blue, has evasion, and can act as a counterspell if required.
March 31, 2015 3:11 p.m.
Yeah I thought about the card, if it said ''counter target spell'' it would be an auto-include. Unfortunately it's just creature spells, which leads me to think that Nullify would be a cheaper version of the effect and that Dissolve would be a same cost/stronger effect. I get the devotion part...but don't forget you're also exploiting some of that devotion..!
March 31, 2015 3:29 p.m.
Good point. I honestly keep forgetting that it only counters creature spells. I probably tried to counter 3 different non-creature things at the pre-release with it before it really sunk in, and apparently I didn't keep the knowledge.
March 31, 2015 5:11 p.m.
Wouldn't Frost Walker die as soon as Master of Waves enters the battlefield?
March 31, 2015 11:29 p.m.
The +1/+1 from Master of Waves is a static ability, it does not target Frost Walker. Any effect needs to explicitly say target for Frost Walker to die... just think how imbalanced static abilities would be in heroic decks if it would target permanents :P
March 31, 2015 11:42 p.m.
Why excatly did mirror mockery not work? Looks like a good card for the deck shuting down rhinos or doubling masters..
April 1, 2015 10:07 p.m.
also what do you think about Profaner of the Dead? sry for the double post
April 1, 2015 10:10 p.m.
@ JohnDee, no problem for the double post, thanks for the comment!
The problem I had with Mirror Mockery is that the creatures still blocked Shorecrasher Elemental and Frost Walker and I really would have like those to connect (or at least make a good trade if need be).
Removal is scarce in the deck and is mostly used against high end threats, a lot of times those are flyers which also start blocking Hypnotic Siren and Stratus Dancer quite badly for us.
The combo with Master of Waves is good but quite situational. The Bident of Thassa forced attack does not work on all creatures and requires drawing two cards with low draw probability and having mana to spare (which means you're proabably ahead in tempo)
Profaner of the Dead... Well The only creature I'd see myself exploiting with it is itslef, all other creatures in the deck have very low toughness or are way too much important. So 4 mana bounce eveyrthing with 3 toughness or less... could be good against aggro I guess?
April 1, 2015 11:06 p.m.
Mhm i see your point i will still try out the mockery this fnm and see how it works for me :)
Profaner of the Dead: yeah that was what i was thinking also you could mirror mock him and exploit the copy every turn to shut down aggro forever... or exploit a creatur like siege rhino after you stole it from your enemy with a siren if needed. i have around 2 human and at last 1 mono red aggro in my meta atm so profaner is a good choice for me

blid, if you put it on, say, your opponent's 5/5 creature, they might as well not bother attacking with it anymore because you'll get a copy of it that you can block (and potentially kill) it with. Effectively it turns that creature into solely a defender.
