I like Exploration, Burgeoning and Life from the Loam For this list

Gabtuls, I have been meaning to try out Burgeoning and Exploration. I used to run Life from the Loam and found it underwhelming. I slotted in Splendid Reclamation in its place.

Glad to see Omnath and his elementals reek havoc on Zendikar and the multiverse! +1!

I like life from the loam in your list just as something to dredge when you are in need of hitting land drops etc.

Hey man, I really like your version of Omnath. I myself have been tinkering with him for a bit (I'll link my build below, I really agree with you on Scapeshift, I need to grab me a copy). How has Seasons Past been working for you? What are your common targets with it? Also, I've been considering running the Amulet of Vigor, how has the card generally played? Thanks mate, nice deck.

Axeplorer, Seasons Past has been an all-star in this deck. Majority of the time you are grabbing combo pieces that were removed, ramp spells, and removal(always removal). Almost every time I cast it I'm getting back 4+ cards, which I consider worthwhile. As for Amulet of Vigor as stated above, it is a key combo piece that works in conjunction with Perilous Forays. Without the Perilous Forays on the field, it turns all of your basic ramp spells such as Rampant Growth, Into the North, Kodama's Reach, etc. into a pseudo Nature's Lore or Skyshroud Claim. Playing Scapeshift with Amulet of Vigor is almost the equivalent to Turnabout but in green. Feels great when you use the mana you floated to cast a Splendid Reclamation getting back all the lands you just sacrificed. In regards to your own list, I absolutely love it. It's scarily similar to my second rendition of this deck(currently on my third). I saw on there where a guy was suggesting Tempt with Vengeance, and I would like to say it put in a lot of work in my earlier builds. Little known fact, If you cast Tempt with Vengeance or use Elemental Mastery while you have a Warstorm Surge and Omnath, Locus of Rage on the battle field, you can use the Warstorm Surge damage to kill off your 1/1 elemental tokens, and then use Omnath, Locus of Rage's triggered ability to bolt everyone for three damage per elemental destroyed.

Hey thats a pretty neat trick that I didn't think of with Tempt with Vengeance, thanks for the tip I'll have to try it out. I'm pretty sure I'm sold on Amulet of Vigor, it just seems too good to pass up with the tempo it can give you. Would you consider Seasons Past to be worth a shot over Regrowth as they fill similar roles? Thanks for the response mate.

Axeplorer, running Seasons Past over Regrowth is a meta call in my opinion. I built my deck to fit a tier 2-3 meta. Can it keep up in stronger pods? Kinda, but not really. The quickest I've ever killed a table with this deck was turn 5, but that was with absolutely no interaction from the other players and a god hand. For the most part, I would play Seasons Past over Regrowth, because I built this deck like a filthy casual. If I were to tune it, I would definitely run Regrowth. I would also play Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker, Zealous Conscripts, Pyroblast, Red Elemental Blast, etc.. The deck can be degenerate, but in the spirit of EDH, I choose to tone things down a little bit and run big flashy spells. In short, evaluate your meta, and choose how you want the deck to run. If you want to go late game and cast large spells due to a 75% meta, play Seasons Past. If you want to kill everyone as quick as turn four and release your inner spike, play Regrowth. I'm sorry I couldn't be of much help, but I honestly do not know what the other players you play against are running. I have a large mix of different play styles at my LGS, and because of that I have the opportunity to play an assortment of EDH decks to fit the pod I am in. I have five other EDH decks built up , and only one is a work in progress. Each deck presents a different playstyle, and gives me the flexibility to play at the level of my opponents. Good luck, and let me know what you decide on. Would love to hear what your meta consists of.

nik_r, I'm in a similar boat as you, I have 9 EDH decks total, ranging from theme/tribal decks to my spike combo-control deck or my stax deck. I adjust the deck I play to my opponents, I have the privilege of having new players come to me frequently at the university I attend wanting to learn to play or that are just getting in to the game. So if its them I play against, they mostly play some white/red midrange decks or some black good-stuff decks. Otherwise, the core of players I play against are mostly 50-60% players, with probably 2 of them being 80%+ or so. Fairly casual and low key. Theres a good Gaddock Teeg deck, an explosive Bruna, Light of Alabaster, Nekusar, the Mindrazer, Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind, Karador, Ghost Chieftain, a (mostly) non-combo Scion of the Ur-Dragon, a decent Tajic, Blade of the Legion, a very staxy Meren of Clan Nel Toth, and many more (people usually are sporting at least 2 decks). At the moment, Omnath, Locus of Rage wins fairly frequently in multiplayer games, with Teeg, Meren, and a Prossh deck typically being the most dangerous.

Axeplorer, Our meta's are very similar then. Most of our players are running 60-75% decks, others less. There are only about 5+ people in my area that truly play competitively. Technically we would have more if I considered the three mono-blue counter decks competitive(not a fan of combo-control, would rather play against a stax deck and truly have to struggle). The truly 90+% decks in our meta are my Narset, Enlightened Master, my(currently disassembled) Prossh, Skyraider of Kher, a Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord, a Zur the Enchanter, and a Sidisi, Brood Tyrant. That is my main playgroup. The other competitive players float around, and don't play too terribly often. In regards to your first question though, given the description you just gave me of your meta, I would run Seasons Past. It seems your only issue would be playing against the Gaddock Teeg deck, but it's not like you couldn't bolt him with an Omnath, Locus of Rage Trigger. So yeah, I would try it out. You may find you like it, and the fact it is reusable might help you in those longer lower tier games.

this deck looks fun! My Omnath list is a bit too glass cannon-y for my tastes but it has more resources to go off in a single turn once you his critical mass

A little curious as to why you left out Borborygmos Enraged and Terramorphic Expanse

February 8, 2017 11:38 p.m.

WhiteKnight251, I left out Borborygmos Enraged because he is too high a cmc for what he does. I'm not saying he wouldn't be fantastic in other builds, but in mine it just won't be as affective as other cards I already have. As for Terramorphic Expanse, having lands come in tapped isn't very effective in higher tuned pods. Eventually I will have every fetch I can possibly run in this list. The only reason I run the Evolving Wilds is because it is a foil promo. Lol. Thank you for the suggestions though.

This is a really cool deck and a well written description. I like the unique take on Omnath. I have never considered Scapeshift or some of your combos, but I like the ideas. I definitely want to try out the Amulet of Vigor combo in my deck.

Have you considered Soulblast as another finisher? It has put in work in my more tribal Omnath build (Mr. Grumpy).

+1 from me

Hi_diddly_ho_neighbor, I'll be more than happy to try it out. I'll use my flex spot and give it a whirl once I pick up a copy. I have a feeling it will be too high a CMC for this deck, but it looks too fun to pass up.

The new card Rishkar's Expertise would be good

Athraithe, I actually tried it out shortly after the release. I had it in the deck for about two weeks, and played maybe 10-15 games during that time. Every time I drew the card, I was wishing it was something else. It is a fantastic card, but it never performed well in the games I drew it in. I may give it another chance in the future, but as of right now, I'm going to stand by it being too expensive and flashy. Thank you for the recommendation though!

I think that it's interesting that you chose to play so many elves and mana rocks. I also don't think I've seen so few basics in an Omnath list, but I really like it and think it's cool that you managed to turn the deck into a combo deck. I've been trying to do something similar to mine and am super happy I found your list.
