Greetings brave Temur Warriors, this is my take on a Temur monsters, mid range strategy. I am trying to make this as competitive as possible so feedback is appreciated. (DESCRIPTION BEING UPDATED CARDS SHOWN BELOW MIGHT NOT BE ABOVE)
I will go down the list and explain each card and why it is in the deck.
THE MANA PRODUCERS: With a deck running three colors that wants to get its bombs on the field early, you need mana ramp and fixing.
Elvish Mystic: Very awesome ramps, helps you get ahead on board with bombs, and stay in the game even when mana screwed.
Sylvan Caryatid : Very solid ramp, it can block aggro, help with fixing, and is hard to remove. I run a 4 of this over Rattleclaw Mystic because sylvan is alot more consistent because it doesn't die to spot removal.
THE BOSS
Courser of Kruphix :At this point this card is pretty self explanatory. It can block aggro, it gains you life, it prevents you from taking damage from etch lands, it survives alot of removal, and it works well with other card draw engines such as Temur Ascendancy and Chandra, Pyromaster. The reason Courser of Kruphix has its own spot is because it deserves it, if you have problems with that take it up with THE BOSS.
THE MEAT: When you have a deck with so much fixing and ramp you need to have things to ramp into.
Savage Knuckleblade: This card is crazy good. Great early game, great late game, can beat past alot of creatures and pump to kill the rest. It is hard to remove can give it self haste and can hit the board on turn two with Elvish Mystic. Fun mechanic: Obviously this triggers Temur Ascendancy but when you have both and have nothing to do, you can send it back to your had and recast it for more draw triggers.
Polukranos, World Eater :Very powerful creature, great early game, and great late game with lots of mana or Xenagos, the Reveler, also triggers Temur Ascendancy.
Stormbreath Dragon I love this card, it is everything I want it to be, it has evasion, it has protection which allows it to block and attack past through alot of annoying flyers in the format such as Butcher of the Horde and Wingmate Roc.It also has an awesome monstrosity and trigger Temur Ascendancy.
Surrak Dragonclaw: This card is just awesome, it can help you push through with your creatures by giving them trample, it helps your deck against control, it has flash.... did you hear me IT HAS FLASH, this alone can lead to insane blowouts where your opponent will burst into tears, which you proceed to drink. If it had trample itself, and wasn't legendary there would be more in the mainboard, oh and like alot of things it triggers Temur Ascendancy.
PLANESWALKERS:
Chandra, Pyromaster: Very good against aggro and gives you card advantage and works well with Temur Ascendancy and Courser of Kruphix. The fact that it can make things not block is very useful in creature heavy match ups as well.
Xenagos, the Reveler: Applies pressure through 2/2 satyrs, helps ramp into bigger guys, bigger monstrositys and has a very relevant ultimate.
NON CREATURE/PLANESWALKER SPELLS
Temur Ascendancy: As you might have noticed, I mention this card quite frequently... oh wait you didn't notice well here you go Temur Ascendancy Temur AscendancyTemur AscendancyTemur AscendancyTemur AscendancyTemur Ascendancy. Unless you are playing aggro there is no reason to play this, and a creature the following turn. This card provides great card advantage and pressure. It is good against control mid range, pretty much everything but aggro which is why there are only one, well that and the fact that having to many in hand without creatures to activate them is a bummer.
Crater's Claws
: Does a better job at finishing the game. It can also hit creatures and planeswalkers which is also nice.If this card isn't countered late game it straight up wins the games. it is just very powerful effective burn
Lightning Strike This card is awesome. It has the reach to finish a game and it can kill alot of annoying early game threats like Mantis Rider or Goblin Rabblemaster
SIDEBOARD: Because every deck needs one.
Anger of the Gods: Even though this card hits my mana producers, it hits my opponents way worse. Most of the time when I use Anger of the Gods I either have a big threat that survives it, or I have enough mana to cast one post wrath.
Destructive Revelry: Artifacts and enchantments are always annoying, and being able to destroy them and while being able to deal two damage to your opponent is very useful.
Stubborn Denial: This is extremely good, being able to counter Thoughtseize and
Despise
, early game while being able being able to hard counter any non creature spell in the mid to late game is glorious, and can lead to many blow outs.
Polymorphist's Jest: After much contemplation, even saying that it is worse than Turn to Frog I have finally decided to put this in the side. It is helpful against Creatures with evasion. It is useful against big creatures, it can also stop Hornet Nest from stopping your deck In its tracks It is extremely helpful in the mirror match up especially since it is at instant speed and hits cards like Sagu Mauler. Fun mechanics:. Fun Mechanic#1 when playing a deck that runs creatures and Elspeth, Sun's Champion such as Abzan mid range, you can use Polymorphist's Jest your creature creatures to protect it from Elspeth, Sun's Champion -3. Fun Mechanic #2 Sarkhan,Dragonspeaker that is all...
Feed the Clan: A very Awesome card against pretty much anything trying to kill you quickly or burn you out... I am looking at you Jeskai Tempo.
Temur Ascendancy: An extra one in the side for when I play any control strategy.
