How is the keyrune doing for you?

I love it so far. It's a great target for Kessig Wolf Run, provides mana acceleration and early game blocking until I can drop a Thragtusk or Obzedat, Ghost Council. Much more versatile than the mana dorks I had in before. The deck is performing now better than ever actually so I'm excited for FNM this Friday

If I'm reading this right and your LGS is Forbes in the KW area, we're practically neighbours! Fantastic deck, GL and +1 from me!

It is Forbes and I live in on the west side of the river in Cambridge, do you play at Forbes?

Vault of the Archangel is a hell of a card to run in your lands even as a one-of. It has gotten me out of a pinch when I was waiting to draw my finishers by gaining quite a few points of life back and with all your tokens, having the mana open will make your opponent think twice before turning sideways.

And since we're on the topic of tokens, Gavony Township is another decent alternative as it synergizes well with a large board (which I assume you usually have).

You get a +1 from me.

I have been looking to improve my Morglen deck as well. So I decided to play test our two decks. I beat you five times in a row :0 The reason I am posting is so that you can prepare for the possibility of a similar deck :) deck:morglen-mid-range-please-commenthelp-1

@ mrbloo1848: Vault of the Archangel is very tempting in this deck. I am still iffy on having Kessig Wolf Run in here so I might switch it out for the vault.

@ Ertl: I have never played a mirror match-up come to think of it. Nobody else at my LGS plays junk, which is part of the reason that I do. Also, when I playtested our decks my deck won most of the time. It isn't accurate when playtesting your own deck against another. I have seen your deck before and I like the different path you are taking with it, it's definitely a quality list. Thanks for the playtests and letting me know, I'll have to watch out for mirrors

In my dark naya, I run both wolf run and vault. Its such dirt. Sigarda activate gain 5 I dropped a tusk last turn. Retarded.

hollandboys says... #9

It would be nice to run both, but how does the land work? I want to actually be able to drop Obzedat, Ghost Council turn 5

March 15, 2013 12:24 p.m.

Stein_ says... #10

The way I do it is 1 each of the black mana of your three colors, so overgrown tomb, godless shrine, and swamp. With wolf run, all you need is basically one red source in the deck to activate, so you could blood crypt. And then act accordingly with farseek =) after loads and loads of testing with my team, I had started seeing how the mana should be pulled out because I use double colors like Aurelia, and Gisela, along with spears, souls and seeking. You don't need stomping ground early, basically just seek for it once you set all your other shit up, or obvi depending on situation.you could taken out sacred foundry for vault. It would actually sit well.

R u playing fnm tonight? DC tomorrow?

March 15, 2013 12:36 p.m.

hollandboys says... #12

I am playing FNM tonight, that's why I want to get all the mana sorted out. So what you are saying is I should run one Stomping Ground and 1 Vault of the Archangel from here?

March 15, 2013 12:41 p.m.

Stein_ says... #13

-1 Sacred Foundry for +1 Vault. Stomping Ground as a 2of is fine, it becomes the players choice to either use red white or red green. I'd say red green. So keep stomping grounds.

hollandboys says... #14

I think I'll run one of each just in case I need some white mana for Obzedat and red mana for wolf run

Stein_ says... #15

Hmm yeah that's a good thought too. When you drop vault, any other deck with creatures will just concede.

hollandboys says... #16

I think it looks decent now, I'll test it out before FNM and maybe make a couple changes. I'll report how I do afterwards, I expect to see a lot of naya blitz and jund tonight

Unless Kessig Wolf Run has reliably won you games before, the strategy of running a couple lands and that just to have it is not the most efficient especially when you aren't running other red spells as well.

Working around tokens, Vault of the Archangel has better value and is in my opinion a better way to sink your mana when you are in between spells. I can't tell you how many times it has won me the game when I was on the brink of just getting burned to death.

But that's just me. Wolf run in there is pretty nifty and if it work, it works!

hollandboys, I live out in Baden if you know where that is (sorry for late response), but no, usually I play at Just by Chance Games.

I post this in response to your wanting to play Obzedat, Ghost Council on turn 5. It can be very hard to get double white and double black by then. I've been playing around with some Molgren decks for a while and some cheap mana fixing ideas are Arbor Elf and Abundant Growth. The elves are great for chump blockers later on in the game, but the growths are best because it replaces itself.

Sorry guys I have a pretty busy weekend so I probably won't get a full summary of last night up until Monday. I ended up 3-2, one misplay away from 4-1 so I was kinda kicking myself for that but it's no big deal.

I can think of two cards that could potentially be of great use. Intangible Virtue and Trostani, Selesnya's Voice. Both of these cards are great with tokens, and Trostani is such a beast and can be very hard to deal with. Cheers! +1

Do you knowww him? Do you have a dorsal fin!!! Love the name

@ shadowfoxxx. I run Arbor Elf and Verdant Haven. It is a perfect turn 3 combo that allows you to drop Obzedat, Ghost Council. Take a look lol. deck: morglen-mid-range-please-commenthelp-1

March 17, 2013 10:12 a.m.

The Selesnya Keyrune seems like an interesting choice. I feel like Dreg Mangler, Vampire Nighthawk, Centaur Healer, Rhox Faithmender, Arbor Elf, Avacyn's Pilgrim, or Call of the Conclave would be better
