A 1/1 card:Avacyn's Pilgrim and a 1/1 Spirit rob a chunk of viability right there.

I haven't playtested much with the Silverblade Paladin so I'll test it out and make changes if I don't like it. Collective Blessing is just so nice if it actually drops, and again it helps me a lot against control when I need a late-game edge. Might end up on the sideboard though

Green's 3rd lol.
I just think the next time you play and don't do well, you'll say you struggle with a whole other card or deck. And if that ensues, you'll eventually come to a huge road block where you can't deal with a certain card. Like Bonfire of the Damned or something. I don't know. All I'm saying is you can lose to decks without either aforementioned staple. Then what?
December 10, 2012 8:06 p.m.
i used to be like you, thinking that green was the best, but i was wrong. blue is the best, period, no questions asked.

Rootborn Defenses is great if you come up against a lot of board wipes (doesn't work for terminus though) what 2nd best?

I haven't lost to a deck without those cards yet... And I have usually beaten decks that run Bonfire of the Damned , I don't find it that big of a threat because this deck recovers really well to boardwiping. You can't rank the colours like that, it's how you play them and what format. In standard green is 1st right now. Most competitive decks run green
December 10, 2012 8:08 p.m.
Green has Tarmogoyf , Fastbond , Channel , Survival of the Fittest , Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary , and that's pretty much it, historically.

"I haven't lost to a deck without those cards yet..."
But you will! You haven't played enough decks enough times to claim you don't struggle with them! For example, you played one RDW deck where they had shitty luck, where a good hand of RDW would rape this deck to shit. Mine too.
I really think you need to play more.

I've played a bunch of RDW and this deck consistently beats it actually. He only had bad luck the second game. The first game I beat him when he had a great hand
But yes, I would love to be able to play more. That's what christmas holidays are for
December 10, 2012 8:16 p.m.
You haven't played enough to know indefinitely how well this deck does in the Standard metagame.
2 FNMs? Play 20. Then we'll talk about threats.

I wish I could play 20. I will play the next 3 or 4 probably.

Well there goes my Thragtusk , better bond a Silverblade Paladin to a Rancor ed Loxodon Smiter and then draw 6 cards using Garruk, Primal Hunter
December 10, 2012 8:22 p.m.
If your deck relies on 4 cards to work chronologically in order to win, then you're doing something wrong or you're pulling a Reid and stacking.
A good deck should have cards that do well by themselves but all help achieve a similar primary objective. That's why the only combo that actually works in standard is something in reanimator.
December 10, 2012 8:28 p.m.
i play every friday and sunday :) and with friends at school, plus i dont think you will die from a slaughter games naming thrag

It doesn't rely on specific cards, which is what I am saying. If someone uses Slaughter Games on Thragtusk I've still got more options

Lucky, I don't know anyone from my school that plays. And the stores I go to only do Fridays. The stores in the city I go to school in only do standard every other week!
December 10, 2012 8:33 p.m.
that sucks, i couldn't imagine only playing once every 2 weeks. when i entered this school only one kid played, but i convinced everyone else to play.

Nice, I was convinced by FROZR2 to start playing at the beginning of last May but then went back to school in September and didn't know anyone who plays
December 10, 2012 8:58 p.m.
i thought u knew FROZR2 in real life but wasn't sure, this is pretty good for a new deck, well anyway, good luck, but why do you have all the Ultimate Price 's?
December 10, 2012 9:02 p.m.
hollandboys says... #22
The Ultimate Price s are just really good removal. One mana cheaper than Oblivion Ring and gets rid of creatures like Thragtusk , Thalia, Guardian of Thraben , and many others

The guy ranking colors up there is refering to eternal which is not even the same ball game as standard In eternal I'd probably say blue then black then red/white and last at green In current standard it's actually pretty bablanced

But you are the trollking so your vote doesn't count...
December 11, 2012 12:27 a.m.
why not take out 1 Collective Blessing and put 1 Armada Wurm ?
hollandboys says... #1
If I had more planeswalkers I would. I don't even have any Garruk, Primal Hunter s yet.
The sideboard does do that but Olivia Voldaren and Thalia, Guardian of Thraben are staples for control and aggro respectively. The thing I like most about this deck is that it seems to play well in every length of game. If everything goes as plan it can win before turn 5-6 but if it doesn't I can still keep up with the control and midrange decks.
Oh and blue is definitely not the best colour, green all the way! And start spelling colour like a proud Canadian, there's a U
