I would say the mana cost is a bit high, but if I can get my hands on that Serra's Sanctum that won't be an issue at all really

Might I suggest Stubborn Denial ?

What should I take out for it?

You could either replace Cancel with it, as you'll almost always have a creature with power 4 or greater, thanks to all those enchantments. (And Bruna is base power 5, so that's a plus)

Alternatively, you could take out some mill cards. Mill is underwhelming in competitive EDH. It doesn't make your opponents lose outright, which doesn't help you in the competitive environement. I would add in that Enlightened Tutor as well.

Hope this helps your deck become even more badass! +1 for the amazing decklist!

And Tranquil Cove for Azorius Guildgate as well. The former is, technically speaking, "strictly better".

Actually the mill does make my opponent lose outright.... When i put half my deck in my grave and swing with Bruna... So no... The mill stays and so does land

I will replace the guildgate when I find a foil Cove. Pretty deck is better than non pretty deck :P

That being said I also just got a foil Cancel from Khans, so I'd rather keep that as well. I'm personally looking at taking out Last Word since it is the most expensive and the least impressive.

Forget Stubborn Denial .

Forbid

Discard auras.

MisterJ: Yes, now it makes sense when you put it that way. Then I would maybe add something like Stifle to ward off those Tormod's Crypt s and others.

Sonnet666: That's a good suggestion. Auras in hand or in grave are the same to Bruna.

So MisterJ, maybe replace Last Word with Forbid /Stubborn Denial and add a Stifle ?

I'm not worried about adding in a Stifle really. By the time someone that doesn't know my deck is wise to what is happening with the mill aspect, it's to late for them anyways. No one in my local meta plays with graveyards really so cards like Bojuka Bog and Tormod's Crypt are very far and few between to be honest. A lot of time, their dead in hand and even more dead in play.

That being said, Forbid is nice, but once Bruna is in play, 9 times out of 10 I won't have an aura in hand to pitch for the buy back. Not to mention the fact that I STILL have to have 3 open mana to use it, which is the biggest reason that Stubborn Denial is an excellent option. I can save Denial for removal the same turn I cast her if she doesn't have haste/protection which does happen on occasion.

Circumstantially Forbid is awesome, but in reality, I want to have the cheapest card to protect her the easiest. And Stubborn Denial does just that.

So, since I'm also doing self-mill Bruna, I've found that Defy Death can be outstanding. Being able to do in white what black does (so much better) is pretty awesome, especially when you Mirror-Mad Phantasm your Avacyn, Angel of Hope. Were I to suggest what to replace it for, I'd probably say one of your board wipes, since you are running plenty of them.

I do think you could benefit from some graveyard shuffle effects like Feldon's Cane and Elixir of Immortality, but what to remove for them is a tough question. Your creature base is very strong, but Sunblast Angel seems to be the odd man out, so to speak. It's a great card, so I'm curious how it has performed for you, since you have more experience playing with Bruna than I do.

Actually, now that I'm looking closer, how has Academy Researchers been in your games? It seems like it could be a fairly disappointing draw, but I'm saying that as someone who hasn't played with the card in a Bruna deck.

He does one of two things, He starts in your opening hand with something like Eldrazi Conscription and you just start the game being "that guy" or he just whiffs and another dude to sac to attrition decks. Either way, not a complete dud, but I'm happy with the slot he fills.

Sunblast Angel has saved me a few times, but my meta tends to play aggro heavy decks, which is why I initially put it in. When I have several members of my league playing crap like Goblin tribal, Elf tribal, Sliver tribal, Dragon tribal... Not including your run of the mill decks, attackers before turn 5-6 when we drop Bruna can be devastating. So I've found a few times casting Bruna on 4-6 will fend off my attackers from me at least, then really allows for the follow up Sunblast.

The other thing I might point out, is it also depends on if you're used to playing in 1v1 or 4 man FFA games. All of my decks are constructed for 4 man FFA games, hence so many wrath effects. If I can't have one creature, you can't have any of yours!

Why stop at wrath effects? Cataclysm.

January 24, 2015 6:02 a.m.

-MisterJ- says... #18

Because in the league we have a negative point system as well as a positive point system and removal/disruption of land base carries quite the toll. Plus my main deck I play at league, my most fair deck which is combo, often ends with land destruction

Shameless plug! This is the deck I play at league most the time: Mishra's Maniacal Mechanical Mayhem!

NoSoyYucateco says... #19

Okay,e that makes a lot more sense, knowing your meta a little better.

From here, then, my best suggestion to you might be Strip Mine or Ghost Quarter, not only to take care of man-lands, but to remove Arcane Lighthouse, because that has been an issue in a few games I've played recently. Many of your auras involve hexprooof/shroud.

January 24, 2015 6:24 a.m.

-MisterJ- says... #20

Arcane Lighthouse has actually not shown up in my meta at all. I would add a Strip Mine if I thought it would be worth it to add in an off color land when making sure you hit is SO very important in the early game.

But lets face it, if shroud is deal breaker to whether or not Bruna stays in play... I've already failed. 9 times out of 10 protection is what she needs. Not shroud. So as my go to card, I always fetch out Spectra Ward

You need more lands! 32 is nowhere near enough. 35 is the absolute least I'd run in mono green. And you have 32 without ramp.

Agreed. Totally need more land. Maybe some mana rocks too.
