Creature (2)

Sorcery (2)

Artifact (1)

I saw this build online and decided to tinker with it without spending too much money. Have played a few games with it (none competitively due to work) and seems to be pretty simple and effective.

The idea behind this deck is to use the energy counters mechanic from the Kaladesh block as another resource, almost like mana. The energy can be used to buff units or provide protection on others.

Cards That Generate Energy

Punch Through Their Defenses

Here's The Wind-up!

Using energy counters that you have accumulated throughout the game, use any of the previously mentioned buffs (especially Larger Than Life on a Electrostatic Pummeler and you can do some serious damage!

Sideboard Mentions

Since you'll most likely be starting out very aggressively on your first round, some midrange cards have been added. I'm going to assume your opponent will add a Plansewalker of some sort, so a Deadlock Trap can slow them down a bit. Nissa, Voice of Zendikar will also put some buffs on your side. Is your opponent using more artifacts than you would like? Try using By Force to get rid of those pesky things. I've also thrown in an Aethersphere Harvester for some lifelink and flying capabilities.

Updates Add

I was keeping tabs on the Pro Tour this last week and what was working. I saw mono red aggro won (congrats to the winners) and energy was doing fairly well. I did some looking around and saw some builds for this deck that seem to be pretty competitive.

Added: 2x Abrade, 2x Glorybringer, 4x Sheltered Thicket, 4x Hashep Oasis, and about 1 copy of major cards

Removed: Game Trail, Larger Than Life, Uncaged Fury, Lathnu Hellion
