Commander: The Prismatic Bridge  Flip

Maybeboard

A full flavor theros gods tribal deck.

All 22 Theros gods.

All 5 Dictates.

All 5 of the god’s artifact enchantment weapons.

All 10 Temples.

I did my best to include fun Theros cards that evenly add to devotion.

Originally, this deck was built before Theros: Beyond Death was announced. It included the 15 gods and about a half dozen other Theros creatures, but also things from other planes like Genju of the Realm, Maelstrom Archangel, Niv-Mizzet Reborn, and Marchesa, the Black Rose, because they added devotion to a lot of colors a lot faster.

But after the announcement of Theros: Beyond Death I knew I wanted to go for full Theros flavor. Esika, God of the Tree   and Theater of Horrors are basically the only spells off-flavor. Golos, Tireless Pilgrim used to helm this deck as I firmly believe he was from Theros. After his ban, Esika seemed the only appropriate choice as at least she’s a god and can provide some free value turn after turn on the Prismatic Bridge side with free spells and WUBRG devotion. Theater is very Ravnica through its art, and flavor text so I had it altered to depict Caligula, a famous Roman emperor, to bring it in flavor with the rest of the deck.

Other fun alters are Baleful Strix altered to be Bubo from 1981’s Clash of the Titans, a famous Ray Harryhausen film about the Greek gods and Perseus. Sol Ring is Prometheus giving fire to man. Command Tower depicts the Temple of Epiphany being visited by its patron god Keranos, God of Storms. (It also features Golos making a pilgrimage to the temple, remnants of his pre-ban reign.) The Prismatic Bridge depicts famous Roman aqueducts found in Spain.

As there is no real defined strategy aside from gaining devotion and turning the beefy gods sideways, it’s important to be looking for the small synergies, like Athreos, Shroud-Veiled + Underworld Cerberus to repeatedly return creatures from your graveyard to your hand. Or Heliod, God of the Sun + Phenax, God of Deception to swing with vigilance and then on the end step mill one player a ton, Medomai the Ageless + Thassa, God of the Sea to make Medomai unblockable and get those extra turns, Klothys, God of Destiny + Theater of Horrors to get access to those extra cards every turn. Any and every small bit of value to push toward a win.

I cultivated my card selection to keep evenly spread both the number of devotion to each color but also the amount of cards that the devotion appears on. The only deviation in this is Spiteful Visions with its Hybrid Mana. For counting, I considered it one of each, not two of each.

Recently switched out the shocklands for the original dual lands. It's a slow deck and to keep up required consistently fetching and shocking. It felt like the manabase was a 4th opponent. Previously ran the other 3 two color planeswalkers from original Theros block, (Ajani, Kiora, and Ashiok) but as none of them originate on Theros I decided to cut them for better card draw creatures in Atris, Uro, and Sythis.
