Cruel Control is an archetype which plays Cruel Ultimatum. You also should read through MTG Salvation to learn more about making a control deck.

Which colours do you want to focus on? What is the gameplan? How are you going to play the deck? What is the meta like?

Never play a control deck without knowing these things.

I'll remove that hub in that case. I don't want to include Cruel Ultimatum here. Anyway, my meta is full of creature decks, weenie, aggro, with a pair of combo or control decks. That's why I've put lots of cards that deal with early game threats, like Terminate, Agony Warp, Cyclonic Rift, Mana Leak, combined with some counter for the mid/late game, such as Dissolve or Soul Manipulation, and some wraths. I also tested this deck and I must say that it performs pretty well, I never lost a game against decks like populate, Elves, Abzan Midrange. I usually side in some Negate or Dispel against a Grixis deck. Overall, I like how I can dig through my deck with the draw spells, and I usually am able to drop a finisher on 6th - 7th turn. And yeah, I've read a lot about control decks. If you have any constructive comment to make this deck better, please tell me.

Well, there's your problem. Abzan midrange is the only tiered deck. You have a good matchup against bad, casual decks.

Your win conditions are very slow and not particularly good at winning the game. Batterskull and Tasigur, the Golden Fang can do this job much better.

The problem is that this deck is really budget. Those suggestions are pretty good, but I simply can't afford now a Tasigur or a Batterskull. I found 3 Duress yesterday in dragons of tarkir prerelease, and I think I'll include them, at least in the sideboard. Do you have any suggestion for the control spells? Maybe something to have a better matchup against the current tiered decks.

White Sun's Zenith over Army of the Damned. You are getting less bang for your buck, but you can do it at end of turn.

That is a really hard choice. White Sun's Zenith is pretty good and unexpected, but lacks the number of creatures of Army of the Damned at the same cost. I wanna play that single card that wins a game, and Army of the Damned at first impression seems more GG. Also, Quickens are here to pay 9 mana and cast a Army of the Damned at the end of my opponent's turn. I'll have to think about it.. Thanks anyway!

Illness in the Ranks Is a cheaper version of Virulent Plague that kills Pestermite tokens and makes Deceiver Exarch copies have 0 power.

Losing friends is no laughing matter...

...unless you use Shadow of Doubt. Sniping their fetches is hilarious.

I would add Syncopate for the cards that you would like to not come back.

I might consider it. What should I take out?

Maybe 1 or 2 Condescend. Any more than that isn't really needed.

I feel like 15 counterspells is way to many. Most control decks will run under 10. I'd shrink that number down in favor of some more card draw and utility.

Some of my counterspells are also utility spells, like Izzet Charm, or even Dream Fracture, or Condescend. But that's a fair point. What do you suggest to take out, and what to add?

Stumbled upon this and put together a variation of it with the cards I have. It's a super cool deck. It does exactly as it is supposed to and it's super cheap.

Thanks! That's great to hear, because I wanted this deck to be as budget as possible while being also budget.
