4-Color Dragon Tempo

Sideboard

Based on Dan Ward's "Temurai"/4-Color Dragons deck from PT Battle for Zendikar.

The basic idea is that you stick a Beastcaller Savant or Rattleclaw Mystic on turn 2 (the former of which can sometimes get in for a point). Then, the onslaught begins with haste (literally) on turn 3. If you can hit a fourth untapped land, you can often go for a Savage Knuckleblade with the extra R open to give it haste. If not, Mantis Rider is always a solid option, though that requires your colors to be seriously on point. The Rider is also key against faster aggressive decks, since it blocks and races at the same time.

Once you have threats coming out, it's all about picking up tempo. Usually your threats will outclass your opponent's in either size or numbers; Standard decks as creature-heavy as this tend toward smaller creatures. Against bigger creatures is where Icefall Regent comes in handy; if your opponent's creatures are big enough to threaten you, they're probably few enough in number that even shutting one down is a sizable blow.

There are only 3 different noncreature spells, but they're all very strong. Draconic Roar is simply the highest quality removal you can put in a deck with this many dragons in it. Jeskai Charm is an all-star; the main reason to run only two is more due to color concerns than card quality. Stubborn Denial is the weakest of the three, and even then it pretty much hoses control decks. With a Stubborn Denial in hand and a Savage Knuckleblade on the table, there's little you can't do in that situation. Just keep in mind that against control, keeping Denial mana up is more important than giving the Knuckleblade haste. Rather than making sure you get in one good hit before it dies, better to prevent it dying in the first place.

The land is a real balancing act since you're, you know, running four colors and all. It is very manageable, though. There's a rhythm to which colors you need, when, and in what order; the specifics really depend on what's in your hand. (Hint: Green usually comes first.) Land is actually the one place thus far where I've deviated from the PT list. I had some issues getting blue mana, so I swapped out one Shivan Reef for a Yavimaya Coast and one Windswept Heath for the fourth Flooded Strand. It's important to note that Strand can still get you green mana by way of Canopy Vista, and while removing a red source may not seem wise, the fact that one of your red sources (Cinder Glade) is also a green source (and thus a high priority for you to fetch) means you'll rarely be lacking.

As for sideboard...Eight dedicated removal spells against aggro (2 Radiant Flames + 3 Silkwrap + 3 Surge of Righteousness ) may seem like overkill, but you need to avoid just getting stomped against aggro before you can put up a fight. Dan Ward's explanation of the deck explained that your Beastcallers and Rattleclaws can come out against aggro, and I agree. Then, you can just start dropping removal on turn 2 (which is much more valuable), or hit a full-power Radiant Flames on turn 3 and go from there.

I brought in the third Stubborn Denial and the two Ashcloud Phoenix against control. As I've already explained, Stubborn Denial is just a beating against control, and the Phoenix soaks up removal and keeps coming back. I'm considering adding a fourth Savage Knuckleblade to the board for this matchup, just because it does so much against control. Dodges removal with its 2U ability, outsizes Dragonlords with its 2G ability, the haste isn't quite as valuable here, but it also enables Ferocious for Denial on its own.

Disdainful Stroke and Exert Influence would come in against midrange, but I can't comment too much on that matchup as it's one I haven't played a lot of. Worth noting is that Exert Influence can take control of Siege Rhino at full strength, since it references power and you have four colors. Also, depending on which threats you're facing, one or two Surge of Righteousness might be worthwhile here; Siege Rhino and Tasigur, the Golden Fang are both black.
