He mulled down to 5 and then didnt draw a second land till around turn 4 and then scooped. Game 2 I dont remember but I won it.
Rakdos aggro 1-2
This was an interesting match up, first game was a loss. I got overwelmed by a stromkirk noble which I didnt have an answer to and a Aristocrat to finish me off. Game 2 was much different. I drew into 2 slaughter games, used one to get rid of his aristocrats and then after seeing he didnt have any other big threats I used the second to get rid of brimstone volley. This made the game an easy win with me having 2 huntsmasters and a thragtusk on the board.
Game 3 I kept a very sketchy hand and didnt draw into a black source to cast my dreadbore. This was a quick loss
Selesnya lifegain stall craterhoof thing? 2-1
This deck was very interesting. The point was to play rhox faithmenders and stall out with mana dudes, life gain and thragtusk until he could drop a craterhoof winning the game. Game 1 I lost because he played 4 faithmenders in the succession of about 5 turns. I had answers for the first 2 but after that the other two were aloud to sit on the board putting him up to something ridiculous like 60 heath. I had played 2 thundermaws in 2 turns but they were quickly O-ringed. When he drew into a craterhoof it was game. Second game went a lot better. I was able to keep his thragtusks off the board with charms and had two huntmasters constantly flipping killing all his mana dudes. Game 3 was one of my favorite games of the night. The game was going along nicely, I dropped a few centaur healers and mana dudes. I noticed he had not played anything and it was around turn 4 with him sitting at 4 mana. I had a rakdos's return in my hand and I wanted to drop his hand asap. the next turn I proceeded to drop a rakdos's return for 4 and what do you know. He discards thragtusk,restoration angel, garruk primal hunter and good old craterhoof. That game was soon over as he kept top-decking lands. I dont remember game 3 very well but I seem to remember something along the lines of a wolfir silverheart bonded to a hellkite. Over quite quickly.
Green-black homebrew 2-0
I could tell this guy was a new player. Nothing to interesting happened and I kinda over ran him. I took a look at his deck after and it was based deathtouch but in the 2 games we played he didnt play any permanents other than a trestle troll.
Green-black graveyard aggro 1-2
This deck was a lot of fun to play against. Round 1 I over ran him after he only got to play a few strangle root geists which I quickly dealed with by playing double centaur healer into thragtusk into thundermaw hellkite. Second game He was able to get down 2 dreg mangers and a blood artist and by the time I could deal with 1 he quickly scavenged it back onto his other one and swung lethal. Game 3 was extremely funny we both played turn one and 2 deathrite shamans (boarded mine in to deal with the graveyard). when I didnt draw any lands and he rancored his deathrite and threw down a blood artist it was game.
In the end I ended up going 3-2 ( 8 round wins, 5 round losses)
Even though there were other people who went 4-1 My opponent win percentage put me over them taking second! This allowed me to grab 6 packs, an isolated chapel and a promo Gitaxen probe! Over all I was extremely satisfied with this deck. I found it was very consistent in all my match ups and That I had answers to all of them. things I would change is pick up some more dreadbores and drop the ultimate prices. I found I was running into a lot of dual colored creatures making it a dead card. Also I found borderland ranger to be a little under-whelming so after I traded for another huntmaster I cut him down to 2 and put huntmaster up to 3. Overall it was an awesome night and I can't wait till next week to play again!
