Sideboard

Maybeboard

Creature (3)

This is my first attempt at a black/blue/white deck. Sideboard not yet complete, but working on it.

Basically the deck runs off the pairing of Duskmantle Seer and Thoughtseize (and if they're playing white or green, Lifebane Zombie). The deck prevents your opponent from doing anything outside of their opening hand.

Duskmantle Seer : you see what your opponent draws and you both lose life for the mana conversion of the cards you drew. Not a big deal to lose the life, as nothing else in the deck costs more than 3, and you know what they have in their hand.

Thoughtseize: if what they drew is scary, get rid of it. If not, get rid of the biggest threat in your opponents hand.

Lifebane Zombie: same principle as Thoughtseize, just colour specific.

Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver: there's nothing better than playing your opponents cards, and having them know there's nothing they can do about it.

Ajani, Caller of the Pride : makes things stronger, and significantly reduces the amount of turns your opponent has to live. It also takes the attention away from your opponent Lightning Strike-ing your life points.

Essence Scatter: if they try to get anything out before you can set up, stop them.

Drainpipe Vermin : a chump blocker that makes your opponent discard a card. The faster your opponent has no playable cards in hand, the sooner you take over.

Daxos of Meletis: if they have nothing on the battlefield, you get a probable life gain, and a possibly even a card of theirs.

Silence: stop them early game, gives you a chance to keep setting up.

Basically everything else in the deck just helps you either defend until you get the engine of this deck running, or remove threats a fast deck your opponent is playing. These are only necessary if your draws at the start of the game are poor, or if your opponent plays a fast aggro deck.

Comments and suggestions always welcome. Just remember that the point of the deck is to have nothing with a converted mana cost over 3, because you don't want to be losing more life than your opponent via Duskmantle Seer .

Otherwise, comment away...
