Puresteel Paladin + Runed Stalactite + Avacyn's Collar + Mortarpod and any other creature?

@ tyforthevenom - Just curious but if turn 2 Puresteel Paladin is the most important play in the deck why do you only have 12 sources of as far as lands go? If you had Ornithopter I could maybe see that since you could equip it turn 2 off a Darksteel Citadel, tap it for , tap a Plains and then play the Paladin.

@kengiczar actually puresteel paladin isn't best turn 2 play... infact best turn 2 and turn 3 play is occasionally Lightning Greaves into Leonin Shikari then after that you play everything else also there's Mox Opal and Paradise Mantle

Is this trying to be competitive or casual?

DarkMagician it's trying to be a strong brew, beyond that it's open to interpretation, i'm probably gonna take it to at least 1 PPTQ this modern season

You need more interaction or any decent aggro deck is going to rip you apart. Path to Exile is definitely a must for your deck or Goyf/Ravager/insert aggressively costed creature here will beat you to death long before you can get a creature online and equipped to the point of being a threat. To be honest the deck is casual level at best, equipment doesn't see much play in modern because hardcasting and equipping it is slow and clunky and that's what your deck relies upon.

DarkMagician the deck at it's core is a turn 4 combo deck, or just equip kemba up (who can't be bolted and blocks most creatures in the format) and Mortarpod is a good blocker even at 0/1 can block then shoot something

How do you go off turn four? Kemba is a great blocker but to make any real use of her requires three turns, one to cast the equipment, one to cast her and one to equip and then a fourth turn before she starts making bodies.

DarkMagician you're casting equipment anyway, so that technically knocks off 1 of those 3 turns

No that's still a turn to cast equipment or else her ability is a no go. I love the theory but the practicality isn't there for it to be competitive. I've learned the hard way the ups and downs of equipment in modern (my favorite modern deck is a Quest for the Holy Relic deck).

DarkMagician not having the mana to cast it and being any other card increased the chances of winning, it's rare to have more than 3-4 mana in a game

Yeah now that I look at your land count I can see what a dead card it would normally be. It's at its best when it's cheated in anyways.

Equip Human with Avacyn's Collar and Mortarpod. Sacrifice creature. Equip new token with the collar and mortar plus Runed Stalactite. Sacrifice creature and go infinite.

Love this deck. Not really much of a fan of Spawn of Virtue's mods so I tend to stay away from his stream. The man is a fun guy and he has some spicy brews though. Sometimes I have his stream open with chat off just for the brews.

SomeJustice that's not the only way... Puresteel Paladin isn't needed... i could also have 2x Auriok Steelshaper in play which is preferred for online play due to being easier on your clock

It serves the same purpose. I just went with the Paladin cause it's a single card instead of two. Perfect world scenario sort of thing. But that's the combo? I got it? I wasn't sure if there's an easier way or something.

SomeJustice no you got it, infinite creatures and infinite pings (though it's effectively the same creature a thousand times) i say 2x Steelshaper are better because if you have that out you don't need to even click anything other than the equipment and the target to equip

Ah I see. I don't actually play MTGO, just paper Magic, so I never really consider having to interact like that and worry about the clock.

Maybe splash for a collected company or 2? Helps you dig for the puresteels.
