Sideboard

Maybeboard

This is a take on Gifts Midrange, where the typical variant is a control shell that uses Gifts Ungiven to get value out of a selection of cards, and uses removal, wraths and efficient creatures to win the game. Instead, this version uses value creatures that are hard to remove or provide an instant effect on the boardstate or life totals, with Gifts Ungiven a versatile card that can be used for various situations.

Typical Gifts Packages:

Unburial Rites + Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite

Provides a huge swing in creatures match-ups and must be answered.

4 Removal Spells (Slaughter Pact / Path to Exile / Abrupt Decay / Dismember / Murderous Cut / Darkblast)

Again, very useful in creature match-ups, as it guarantees 2 removal spells to clear the board. Especially good against Splinter Twin decks. With the probable decline of Delver of Secrets decks in response to the bannings, Darkblast may end up getting cut, but is still a very good dredge engine so may end up staying.

Life from the Loam + Raven's Crime + 2 Lands (usually one of them is Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth)

Creates a hand disruption machine that can shred your opponent's hand and force them into topdeck mode. In tandem with Liliana of the Veil it makes it very effective against control decks that would otherwise hold counterspells and removal that now can't be used.

The deck has 4 primary finishers in terms of creatures and each have their own role. Grave Titan creates a huge board presence, Sun Titan recurs a threat, which potentially requires Kitchen Finks in the main to make it worthwhile and Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite as previously mentioned, is very good against weenie decks. Tasigur, the Golden Fang is something I want to test, as it can easily be a big threat in the early game, or a way to get back cards in the later game, all of which are incredibly efficient due to the deck's nature and design.

I think this type of deck could be very effective in the new meta, post-bannings, as it could spark a revival of the previous GBx decks, such as Jund and Junk Rock style decks that this would match-up well against.

I want to try and fit Thragtusk in the deck too as it is very good at the moment, trading with opposing Siege Rhinos, offsetting the life loss from it and also leaving behind a respectable 3/3 body. Deck space is so tight I'm not sure what to cut to make room.
