Sideboard

Okay. I got the idea for this deck in my sleep, and it was just as sweet now as I thought it would be.

The premise of this deck is, on the surface, to be a midrange value deck. However, any magic player who knows anything about modern will notice some very odd things about this deck instantly. First and probably weirdest of all, there are 70 cards in the maindeck. Not 60 as normal, and not 80 for Yorion, Sky Nomad, but 70. The second thing is that there is not only Lurrus of the Dream-Den as my companion, but there is also Yorion, Sky Nomad in my sideboard along with another copy of Lurrus.

The game one plan of this deck is a lot simpler than the post board, you play a four color Lurrus midrange/value deck, and play Glittering Wish as a means to have access to cards you wouldn't normally have access to with the Lurrus restriction. This gives you top ends plays like Niv-Mizzet Reborn (which there is a blue splash for) and Yorion, Sky Nomad. The extra copy of Lurrus is in the sideboard because it cannot fit its own restriction, and therefore playing a second copy in the sideboard makes there four copies between Glittering Wishs and a fifth as your companion.

Game two is much more complicated. First off, you must decide if you want to continue using Lurrus as your companion, because likely your opponent will board in graveyard hate. Second, you must decide if you want to switch companions.

This deck has an interesting function; it can play both Yorion, Sky Nomad and Lurrus of the Dream-Den as your companion. The reason there are 70 cards in your maindeck is so that you can board in your entire sideboard (minus Yorion) and board out the four Glittering Wishs because they are dead cards without a sideboard. Your sideboard in your maindeck is not really that bad at all; you just have a lot of midrange cards that work well together, not to mention two copies of Lurrus now in your maindeck to continue that value plan.

So what is the point of all this? Well, to say it simply, it is unique and unexpected. A lot of Magic, especially Modern recently has become very repetitive and almost stale. Everyone knows every deck and knows how they play out, nothing is surprising. This deck can really make your opponent confused, and get punished for boarding incorrectly, all behind the shell of a midrange deck.

I'm going to test this deck a bunch and make a guide for when to use Yorion versus Lurrus or neither.

Suggestions

Updates Add

After numerous suggestions to go blue, I think for A) consistency reasons with the manabase and B) a more fitting and overall powerful color in this deck. I am going to readjust this deck a lot, first by making it Bant.
