Introduction

This is a janky af infinite combo deck with a LOT of redundant combo pieces and a healthy number of tutors. The rest of the deck is intended to make 5 colours work, draw some cards, kills some stuff, and generally keep you alive until you can combo off. We play a lot of cheap creatures with ETB abilities because we need creatures to be able to play a Champion on top of. As a bonus, we get to use their ETB ability again when the Champion who exiled them leaves the battlefield!

Combo Pieces

There are two categories of combo pieces: "Champions" and "Win Cons".

Champions

Champions get their name from the "Champion a creature" mechanic. The mechanic works something like this: When one of your champions enters the battlefield, you must exile another creature you control or sacrifice the champion. The payoff is that the champion itself has good stats for the mana cost and you get the exiled creature back when the champion leaves the battlefield. This last bit is the important part!

Win Cons

Your win condition cards are Altar of the Brood, Forerunner of the Coalition, Outpost Siege and Purphoros, God of the Forge. They each trigger when a creature enters/leaves the battlefield and win the game for you by milling, draining or dealing direct damage to your opponents.

How do we Combo?

The combo works like this:

  1. You need a Champion and a Win Condition on the battlefield to begin.
  2. Play Champion 2, exiling champion 1.
  3. Play Champion 3, exiling champion 2.
  4. Champion 1 returns to the battlefield when Champion 2 is exiled.
  5. Loop the Champion triggers to exile them all over and over again, generating infinite ETB triggers from your Win Condition!

Alternative Combo

We can combo off with only 2 champions if they are specifically Felidar Guardian and Restoration Angel.

Other Cards

Tutors and Harbingers are present to find our Champions and Win Conditions. Our best Tutor is Forerunner of the Coalition because it is also a Win Condition! A lot of our Harbingers can only tutor up a specific creature type, but we have changeling Champions to make sure that we can always tutor up another Champion using any of our Harbingers.

Clones are present because they can copy our Champions, or they can copy our opponents' stuff in a pinch. Recruiter of the Guard is normally used to tutor for Forerunner of the Coalition, but sometimes for a Clone or Trinket Mage if we need to find Altar of the Brood for some reason e.g. opponent has infinite life. Imperial Recruiter can tutor for some of our Champions (Felidar Guardian, Fiend Hunter and Hostage Taker) in addition to the targets Recruiter of the Guard can hit.
