@alexgndl

if you wanted to fit a playset of Rancor into this list, I'd cut 1-2 Apostle's Blessing and 2-3 Predator's Strike . Depending on how much removal/ control there is in your meta you may want to try to fit a few more threats in so that Rancor is always live, maybe 1-2 Plague Myr .

Ever consider Wild Defiance ? It can help boost you when you are going longer than 4 turns, which happens sometimes, and can help when deciding to play more than just 1v1. Another good add is Livewire Lash . Happy Infecting!

Concur with Livewire Lash. I ran it in my green/black infect deck and not only does it provide protection from spot removal but also when you pump your creature it deals 2 infect immediately.

I would like to thank TeddyBrosavelt for putting this deck together. I have run it at two local modern tournaments so far. The first time finishing Top 4 because we split, and tonight taking 1st place.

The only change I made for my most recent win is I put Rancor in place of Predator's Strike , with predator strike going in the sideboard.

There are things I will add in the future like Pendelhaven , Inkmoth Nexus , Might of Old Krosa and Wild Defiance to the sideboard. But this deck is simply amazing for just over 10 dollars shipped, and serves as a potent way for any spikes to bust into modern in a big way in the local scene.

This is an awesome deck. I used it as the base for my Modern deck, switching out the 4 Predator's Strike for 3 Rancor and 1 Phytoburst , 1 Ichorclaw Myr and 1 Necropede for 2 Pendelhaven Elder , 1 Giant Growth and 1 Groundswell for 2 Might of Old Krosa , and adding a Sideboard. The Sideboard has 3 Carrion Call , 2 Phytoburst , 3 Predator's Strike , 1 Rancor , 2 Sejiri Steppe , 2 Titanic Growth , and 2 Viridian Betrayers . The deck is supremely fast and can outrun both burn and control. My deck is called Phyrexian Invasion and it gave me my first ever tournament win, in Vintage no less against a whole host of insane opponents.

okay so my suggestions are going to be to splash in blue add Blighted Agent and using Apostle's Blessing easy to do with some cheap dual lands. Do not splash in white pay with life. A MUST have for this deck thou is Wild Defiance

Honestly, AaronF, splashing blue would only cause the deck to lose focus. With the changes I made, while keeping it green, I haven't lost a match yet, and won both tournaments I was in without ever having won a tournament before. I think this is probably the strongest and most competitive Modern deck out there. The proportions of cards right now, and the need to only have 20 lands since it is mono-color, make it supremely easy to get any of the hundred combos needed to end the game on turn 2 or 3, something most supposed "T2 or T3 win" decks don't have due to the odds being greatly against getting the combo you need.

Granted, this deck, as-is, isn't quite as perfect since it avoids some of the slightly costly cards like randor and Might of Old Krosa , but as soon as those enter this deck, it's nearly unstoppable. Splashing blue would damage that.

I meant Rancor . Don't see a way to edit posts.

I can't wait to see how this plays out in the modern tournament at my LGS, the deck that always wins is an affinity deck running Cranial Plating and Inkmoth Nexus , the fact that most of this is played turn 1 and he kills me turn 3 is annoying.

i've been winning TONS of games with this deck. people are pissed my little $10 deck can win against their $500+ modern decks

i would like to find a way to add in a couple more creatures, maybe bring it up to 18 or 20, cuz the games i lose are ones against control or burn where they can remove my creature and then i draw out on instants/lands

@iggy4mayor

Maybe run them in the sideboard, that way you can remain explosive but board into a more threat heavy deck when you need it

How about Virulent Sliver ? Very nice deck!

November 7, 2013 5:35 a.m.

badbranga says... #16

Virulent Sliver has poisonous, not infect. So it's pretty much terrible and not worth running.

November 8, 2013 12:11 a.m.

mclarenf1boi says... #17

badbranga wouldn't it be the same thing technically? The opponent is dealt damage in poison counters and no matter how they're dealt, 10 poison counters is death.

November 8, 2013 2:43 p.m.

Poisonous only does the specific amount of poison damage indicated. If Virulent Sliver does 10 damage to a player, they still only get one poison counter. Infect is far superior because all damage is done in poison counters.

any suggestions on what to replace Necropede with for Pauper? Cost realyl isn't an issue.

November 19, 2013 5:58 a.m.

@DreamGoddessLindsey I feel that would bring the T2 will even further from a possibility.

November 19, 2013 5:41 p.m.

Unfortunately, there aren't really any other good replacements for Pauper. Rot Wolf I suppose is another choice, but they're all still 3-drops. I'd also suggest a couple Sejiri Steppe . For another similar deck, you can check out my Phyrexian Invasion deck. Not really suitable for Pauper and certainly not as cheap, but it's still a fast a dirty infect deck.

I know this card is extremely expensive irl, but in Magic Online, it's only a few tickets worth each, but Berserk is absolutely AMAZING an infect deck. I know it's not legal in modern, but it works amazingly well for this deck. Outisde of this, I agree with everything here. My deck is slightly different, but this is just about the best you can get with an infect deck. With berserk and invigorate, you're looking at a TON of turn 2 or turn 3 wins. Unfortunately it's impossible for a turn 1 win, but it's still pretty darn good and pretty darn cheap, even without berserk

i think the chance that ink moth takes a forest away from your mana pool is not gonna be worth running it
