Great deck! But my only problem is that it could absolutely be demolished by a standard burn early game by wiping your creatures before you get a chance to activate heroic.

@Wolfgang69 no deck can be perfect, there will always be some bad match ups. That's where I hope i can Gods Willing or Ajani's Presence to make them fizzleGame 1 burn is a bad match up though

I completely understand that! But if you're trying to compete with this deck a lot of people run boros burn. I even do myself because it is so versatile and reliable. An if anything a young pyromancer could overrun you even if you gods willing the creature I try to burn because I'm still casting cheap instances and sorceries. Take a look at my boros aggro to see what I mean! [AmbientRaven]

FNM is always a 5 round event or 4 rounds cut to Top 8, so either this post is a lie, or that shop is doing it wrong. You should probably look into the issue if it's the later.

Bullshit. The number of rounds and whether or not there is a separate tournament for the top 8 varies wildly all across the globe.

My lgs for example rarely goes over 3 rounds. Only at game day. And there is no top 8 play-off, you are awarded a place based off of your results and the results of the people you played against. I.e. If two people went 3-0, the final placings would come down to how the opponents you faced fared in other matches.

@Sarversauce I've played at 3 round FNM's and 7 round FNM's in the past. The round amount isn't set in stone, it's often determined by the amount of players. Where I play does 4 rounds, using a system of pairings based off of wins. If there is a dead tie (so say 4 people all go 4-0) we then have a knock out comp for the winner (making it 6 round technically). The first week this deck was played i was the only 4-0. The second week I tied another 4-0 player and we had a play of for 1st. It's easier to write the simplified 4-0 then having a title as long as this post explaining it. MUCH easier.

Thanks to JOU we have Banishing Light as a great replacement for D-Sphere when you don't run blue. Might wanna look at it, even replace Chained with this.

I have a spare Iroas, God of Victory .Could I use it in this deck effectively?

I would recommend running Akroan Crusader He's flat amazing and people really under value his ability to pop tokens with haste...

HI guys thanks for the feedback!
@Energycore Banishing Light is to expensive for what it does. Also it is a more expensive Chained to the Rocks in my eyes (as if they resolve a planeswalker or a god with enough devotion, it's generally to far into game over for us to recover) which is why it isn't included in my list.
@brn3445 Gift of Orzhova is something i would swap in for when i play vs a meta with a lot of aggro as the life link would help tremendously
@Stamina Iroas, God of Victory can take the place of either a Eidolon of Countless Battles or a Madcap Skills though isnt as good as either in my opinion, but is almost as good if you feel like playing him :)
@Captdavo I tried it but found 1/1 tokens less effective than +1/+1 as the +1/+1 can push out of burn range and make your creatures bigger, so that you can push through the damage. I am currently brewing a list that plays Akroan Crusader Young Pyromancer Launch the Fleet and possibly Assemble the Legion for token spam happy fun times

This would be a good deck to make close to rotation since all you have to replace is the Boros Charm , Ethereal Armor , and Madcap Skills .

Have u tried with 19 or 18 lands instead? I've playtested your deck and since your curve is pretty low, you dont need to get more then 4 lands to win. Or you could always go for Mutavault and stay with 20 lands, but then you would bust the 50$ :P. Other then that i love the deck !

@ Phat_Shadow that is what was aiming for when I returned to MTG. A deck i could play, that was fun, had interactions and required some thought to play that would stand up well with rotation. Losing Boros Charm will hurt a little, but, there are always new cards that may prove as good/better
@ QcAntz It can work with 18 lands if you play Sacred Foundry and Mana Confluence as it allows for smoother colouring, but that takes it away from it's $50 budget :p Mutavault would be something I only played with Mana Confluence , Sacred Foundry and 20 land total as SO many of our spells requre a single coloured land that (1) is sort of a dead draw except for bestowing

this looks very fun. i may build something similar. but i will use the Sacred Foundry since i have some around and Mizzium Mortars in my the SB. also Anger of the Gods

Running the better lands helps for sure. I decided to Sb in 1x Mizzium Mortars and 2x Fall of the Hammer as some removal will be beneficial in games such as Mono B

updates are always great! +1, really fun except that we have different metas, how would you SB against a meta with lots of esper/UW/orzhov/american control, and WW?
May 14, 2014 12:32 p.m.
Eidolon of Countless Battles doesn't seem like the best fit for the deck. How does it work out in play testing? You only have two so you might not see it that often I suppose but do you find it effective?

@narahi agreed, tried a boros heroic deck and over the course of 2 FNMs i was able to use him effectively twice. rest of the time there was either nothing to bestow, or i had to save mana for a god's willing/charm

TBH The more I play the more I agree. When he comes down, it's win more. I may swap him for a little removal, perhaps 2x Fall of the Hammer or possibly Favored Hoplite

Heavy control metaSideboard (15)
1x Gods Willing
3x Swift Justice //Coordinated Assault
Vs Esper and UW I would
-2 Eidolon of Countless Battles /Fall of the Hammer
+1 Gods Willing
Vs American Control (the American Controls I have played run a bit of burn) i would swap the Asemble's into Ajani's Presence
And I don't have much experiance vs BW midrange sorry, though if they run Blood Baron I would put Celestial Flare in for sure as well as run Fall of the Hammer to keep the things you can hit with Flare at a minimum
WW I would -3 Titan's Strength and +3 Swift Justice //Coordinated Assault
I prefur Swift Justice as Lie gain vs WW is excellent

@AmbientRaven in the global metagame, I know Thassa is really popular. I've also seen plenty of Erebos and Karametra. There are other popular enchantments that you'd want to get rid of, such as Whip of Erebos and Underworld Connections. Bottom line is that you always want to sideboard some form of enchantment removal if possible.
But whatever, if the deck is working fine for you, be my guest. And I don't know about you, but whenever I build a budget deck, I gradually put money into it to make it more competitive. Like when I slowly got the money I needed for Boros Reckoners and Sacred Foundries.
