really awesome budget build. It's super aggressive and really makes slower decks pay the price. Only thing I'd like to see in here is some burn spells. great job

Thanks @notamardybumI ran burn but I found if I burned I wouldn't get heroic triggers, resulting in slower over all damage. It's why I ended up going pure creature + pump. Recent addition of Fall of the Hammer add's a little removal that still pumps

Hey, I liked your idea for this deck. There are some things that I changed out. Here is my take on the deck:

This deck seems very effective, I took some of the tools and put it into my decks. I'm open to all constructive criticism, here's my take on it: Iroas Heroic Boros Deck

I'm glad this helped you both with your decks :)

Not sure how I feel about Fall of the Hammer ... I prefer Eidolon of Countless Battles since we have Celestial Flare in the sideboard for additional removal.

May 15, 2014 3:43 a.m.

Celestial Flare Doesn't let us pick what dies. I've just been finding Eidelon whiffs or is Win more. I think he is to expensive for what he does. but thats me and my meta! :)

Really Really liking this deck..thinking about purchasing it.

However, I do have one question. How will you combat against control decks? That always seems to be my problem at FNM's with my Rakdos aggro deck.

Just kidding..I see you've already addressed this matter. Sorry.

NP Pianoman0019 it never hurts to ask :) as you see, for control we have 7 main deck options and 4 more options to sideboard in :)

I see that you took out Eidolon of Countless Battles and I think that is a good choice. I happen to have all of the cards for this deck so I put it together and Eidolon of Countless Battles just isn't quick enough or effective enough. I rarely have more than two creature out at a time and the deck doesn't have enough enchantments to make it really effective. If I am going to bestow I find myself unable to most of the time because I need the mana open for a Boros Charm or Gods Willing to save my creature because if you don't, you lose. And you can't rely on him as your main creature because if you are starting to attack turn 4 you are probably going to lose. I agree with adding Fall of the Hammer and for those who go against it I will say why I think it is a good idea. My friends have very varied decks and pretty all of them have early hard to deal with creatures and this deck isn't evasive enough to outrun a few chump blockers until later, because late game isn't that great, Fall of the Hammer serves two purposes that other removals like Chained to the Rocks or Oppressive Rays or Banishing Light don't, it is a heroic trigger and a removal to clear the board for you to get the damage through. Hopefully dealing with their early creatures is all you need to do. To give my opinion on some of the other comments that stood out, I think Banishing Light and Gift of Orzhova are two slow, I wouldn't recommend having anything in the deck over two converted mana cost. I don't think Revoke Existence or Deicide are needed in the sideboard because any enchantment or god shouldn't be a big deal and when they are a Chained to the Rocks will take care of that. The only things I would consider for the deck are Lagonna-Band Trailblazer instead of Akroan Skyguard if you find swinging turn two is really necessary, I agree that it is, or instead of Satyr Hoplite to make so all your creatures are white and make the mana a ratio a little easier to play. I could possibly see Fiendslayer Paladin in the sideboard if mono black devotion or burn is a really hard match up or Anger of the Gods if their are a lot of aggro decks that are hard to deal with because you can't get through. Anger of the Gods turn three shouldn't kill your big creature, it should be plenty big enough to survive, and Lagonna-Band Trailblazer would always be fine, but it would probably deal with their whole board and you could swing for gold. I guess thats all I got now.

narahi very well summed up! I find I personally like to play the Akroan Skyguard as not many people seem to have a early way to deal with a flyer, besides removal.

The Lagonna-Band Trailblazer is an excellent option for burn heavy metas though, i hadn't considered him (I may play test instead of using Satyr Hoplite to easy mana

Thank you for adding your thoughts on Fall of the Hammer . So far in play testing I have not been dissapointed to draw it.

using this deck at game day today, let's see how well the budget stacks against that damn elspeth/aetherling/blood baron :)

May 16, 2014 11:04 p.m.

Would love to hear how you go PsychoFist

I played at another store this Sunday in a 28 person knock out competition, taking 1st place. There meta was full of midrange decks and 1-2 control that couldnt seem to handle a fast aggro deck. I used my my recent version and it worked fantastically. No battle reports sorry as i Was focusing on games to much to write down each turn. I played some B/W Midrange, some control, 2 mono B (Pithing Needle is a boss. Assemble the Legion went off on one game with a needle out and the guy scooped) played a boros burn which was close, but after adding in max Gods Willing , Ajani's Presence and using Boros Charm to save lives, the game was a walk through

AmbientRaven went very well, came in 3rd out of 16, beat almost all control types but lost badly to a couple of almost 0 creature RDW's. the funny thing is that the number one was a highly unusual esper control that ran nothinng but counters and removal with a single elspeth and aetherling for bombs. dude called it "zero win conditions"

May 19, 2014 8:37 a.m.

I'm really glad you did well PsychoFist! That sounds like a weird Esper deck. Mono burn can be hard if we don't draw enough protection spells. it could be worth adding [card]Brave the Elements[/card] in a meta heavy with burn. Will give us more options, though no triggering heroic.

What changes would you personally make to help the games you player?

had a set of sacred foundry and 2 mana confluence from an earlier deck so i reduced the lands to 19, used the spare slot for a single hero of iroas. worked well a couple of times. 2x madcap + boros charm for a sudden win. i did SB brave the elements but the trade off no heroic trigger for more protection was so-so. almost beat an RDW at game 3 when i brought him down to 1 and had 2 brave the elements in hand then he killed me next turn. i sideboarded 2 deicide instead of assemble the legion since a lot of players in my meta run gods and prefer master of the feast over DD

May 20, 2014 8:29 a.m.

Ah cool,, was nice to hear another re cap from someone besides myself!

What changes would you recommend as potentials in a burn heavy meta?

if i was facing more burn? aside from what you've previously posted/mentioned maybe Coordinated Assault for double heroic to hopefully push past burn range and to help against RDW than run playsets of Ash Zealot , Chandra's Phoenix and Boros Reckoner . but against RDW with very few creatures then the lifelink from Swift Justice is probably better. there's also Dauntless Onslaught but idk which card to take out for that. with that said Lagonna-Band Trailblazer and Favored Hoplite are probably the best answers overall. there's also Last Breath but it doesnt feel right in the deck lol

Love this deck, I've been playing with it for awhile. It's going to be really tough to see Ethereal Armor , Boros Charm , and Madcap Skills go. Those cards really make this deck work, IME.

Do you have any recommendations on cards you'd add if budget constraints weren't considered?

First of all +1 from me! Im building this deck right now :D

So heres a question:

If i have in bf 1 Akroan Skyguard and 1 Favored Hoplite do i try to buff Akroan Skyguard only, cause of his fly or try buff both of them if its possible??

Thanks for this gr8 and cheap deck :)

For what it's worth, wwweee, I find that I usually end up with one big creature in this deck rather than a few medium ones. The current build of this deck seems to be focused on attacking with out being blocked, with Madcap Skills , Fall of the Hammer , and Chained to the Rocks to clear a path. I've wondered a few times if a trample card like Rouse the Mob might help.

Side note, AmbientRaven, what do you think of Hammerhand from M15? Seems like an alternative to Madcap Skills . Combining those two would be interesting...

Any thoughts to taking out temples for the new pain lands? itd cheapen the deck and you wouldnt have to worry about tapped lands. Not as great as the shocklands. but we cant have everything we want.
