Use Jarad's Orders if you're try to find a specific creature (I like it a little better than Grisly Salvage simply cause you might not get anything you need when you use it).

well Grisly Salvage at minimum is food for both Scavenging Ooze and Deathrite Shaman or if don't happen to draw either of those, at least Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord will get a boost from it. Not to mention the Mana cost on Jarad's Orders is way too high. It can't fetch Vraska either. (I know Grisly Slavage can't)

Savage Summoning is probably a good side board tactic against control. And you might be able to activate the Shaman's mana ability to play Rest in Peace ? Just some thoughts though.

Not sure what purpose Rest In Peace would serve? when quite a few cards in my deck benefit from having cards in the graveyard.

True. I'm just throwing ideas around. But a Ground Seal -esque card would be great against control or reanimator.

I'm not sure, but you'd be bringing your opponent down with you. There other, better forms of selective graveyard hate. I just can't think of any right now. My point being, you want to have complete control over the game, and right now a lot of players have reanimator cards or cards that can be flashed back.

well I do have 2 different playsets of cards that exile cards each turn.

Okay. So maybe there's something else missing from the equation? Perhaps late-game interaction with the board, or a Duress -like card. Like I said, I'm just throwing ideas around. I've never played a deck like this. So you're the final verdict here.

You should know that there was a Golgari control deck in Grand Prix Warsaw. I think it did pretty well.

perhaps give it a play test against one of your own decks?

I know for a fact my deck would preform poorly. I'm making a Boros aggro deck, but it's very rough around the edges.

APPLE01DOJ says... #15
that deck is also a mix of M14 & Innistrad block cards. Quite a bit of it is rotating out.

Yeah. That makes it harder. But you what card I LOVE that would kick ass in your deck? Kalonian Hydra !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well it isn't about that, just if u play test it, u'll understand how it works better and in turn probably could add some much more useful suggestions.
...if ur running boros then Lightning Helix

SlumberingDragon says... #18
I'm doing standard Boros. I love lightning helix, but I unfortunately can't use it. Well I think I do like your deck as it stands. It seems very strong. Keep your eyes pealed for Theros spoilers. And hop on some forums if you can. People can be surprising helpful on them! If you have the money you can even join MTGO.

Im considering the Hydra. It would fit in good. ...but mana cost of 5 is talking me out of it. Deff sideboard it though. Could easily replace Corpsejack or Slitherhead.

I don't know any by name, but there are some on this site. and for a new player, you have a pretty good deck.

+3 Dreg Mangler or Geralf's Messenger or Liliana of the Veil .
-4 Encroaching Wastes , replace with Overgrown Tomb .
-2 Rogue's Passage , replace with two Golgari Guildgate .
+2 Thragtusk

Care to put any form of reasoning behind that?
Why would I take out a win-con?
I like Dreg Mangler but I think he's a weak link in this deck. I'm trying to keep it rotation ready as possible.
I can't replace Encroaching Wastes with Overgrown Tomb because Overgrown Tomb is already in the deck. Further more. Enroaching Wastes puts mana in my graveyard for Deathrite Shaman to exile. In addition of dealing with things like Mutavault .
Why would I take out a tool that makes a win-condition that much easier for slower mana? The only reason there is 1 guildgate there now is for amusement, this is standard, probably the only place I'll get to use 1.

Oh, sorry. I meant Woodland Cemetery .
Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord is much too high of an investment for what he's worth. Not only does he require double mana of two different colors, but by the time he's out and doing something, your opponent will have most likely taken control of the state of the board.

APPLE01DOJ says... #25
okay, I read your forum post and now your comment makes a lil more sense.
I agree that 8 colorless is too much but a bigger problem seems to be not getting any mana first hand at all. so I think I'll improve both situations by dropping a few slots for some more basics.
Pixel says... #1
I'd suggest grisly salvage instead of underworld connections. Underworld connections eats up a land, where grisly salvage would essentially give five cards to choose from while pumping Jarad and provide fodder for deathrite shaman.
