I don't think he's going to make the cut to be honest. Pain Seer that is. At least not in this deck.

Scourge of Skola Vale might work, but he's expensive as a 2/2 and has to tap on top of sacrificing something else, so dunno.

What's funny is that taking that much life in stardard is a lot bigger of a deal, as you have less OP answers to threats. So losing that much life, and getting less value out of the drawn cards isn't that worth it.

Everything in this deck is better then Scrouge. So why would you pay a card, and however much mana it took to get that card out just to pump an ok trample hydra. Even if you get value out of the card in the graveyard, it's not THAT good. Kalonian does his job better anyways.

That's pretty much what was thinking. In order to play budget bob I would have to change the deck drastically and I like that Grisly Salvage costs 0 life.

Same thing for Scrouge

Honestly Grisly Salvage is perfect for this deck. It's not really a downside that you dump everything else. It's free, you dig 5 instead of 1, and all the targets you usually want are creatures anyways. Anything that's not Vraska can be recycled by something. So you feed your ScOoze or DRS, and get a good card out of it.

Don't need inconsistent drawing that leads to huge life lose. Even with DRS giving you life, if you lose 5 life from drawing a Kalonian Hydra, that could lose you the game.

I'd personally drop the Gaze for Drown into Sorrow. It does close to the same thing for cheaper, and lets you scry. Maybe take out Rachet Bomb instead if you really like gaze. Because Rachet can get hit a lot easier now with all the Into the Aethers and such running around.

I'd personally take out your packrats, and maybe sell your mutavault while they're still hot. They just don't fit that well in this deck, and I'd just prefer to side in more golgari charms If I know I'm facing boardwipes.

Pack Rat has been working quite well even though it doesn't fit the theme of the deck. The Mutavault s help in just about every match I draw them. It's just an all around good card and was part of the deck way before Pack Rat was.

Truthfully, once B/G Scry land is out, I may add a third Mutavault

Hmm. Well I guess that's why it's a 35 dollar card right now. I'm almost better off buying a box and trying my luck if it's that good of an addition.

As for the B/G scry land, I think Journey of Nyx is bound to give this deck lots of help. Hopefully the Golgari god will be in theme, it'll probably skyrocket this deck's power.

Yea, going to preorder a box of Journey Into Nyx just cause it's the B/G set of the block. I opened a box of [M14 and drew 1 Mutavault so I think u would be better to buy the singles unless there is something elese in M14 ur looking for.

B/G Temple, BG Indestructible God. Hopefully a new removal spell. Hopefully new 2 drop. Deff power boost.

I'm thinking I might replace Pack Rat with Unravel the Aether but not certain.

zygon91 says... #13

That's the main reason I was hating on Pack Rat in the first place. Unravel is too good of a sideboard card against all the indestructible gods. It's worth at least testing, while the hype for all the gods is high.

The only question I have is what your win condition usually is. I've seen a lot of talk about Golgari, and a lot of people talk about how they have a lot of answers, but right now they don't have a ton of threats. How do you win against people with a lot of removal?

APPLE01DOJ says... #15

My win con is Kalonian Hydra .

Deathrite Shaman does a lot of foot work. Scavenging Ooze can win games too.

There isn't a lot of decks running a ton of removal in my meta.

Most of my meta is G/W Midrange R/G Monsters U/W Control or Mono G. 2 other Golgari players, 1 goes Aggro the other plays Midrange the Reaper of the Wilds way. A few MUD and MBD

I played at my modern tournament last Friday and my Black/ Green Standard Deck stomped the modern fairy deck. If you know what that is. Vraska helped secure the win. The guy was pissed and it was hilarious. 2-1 me.

APPLE01DOJ says... #19

Awesome, yea B/G is strong vs everything. Not overpowered but possible to win just about any match.

..And yea, modern is my format of choice. Even with the DRS banning.

If you bestow it you make your assassins unblockable. It's a bit expensive but it doesn't do nothing.

I feel March of the Returned could be useful here in case a crucial creature gets killed o:
