BabyK Thanks for the input! Ironically, in my original version on the deck, I had included all of your suggestions with the exception of Black Sun's Zenith. Her's why I took them out: Stone Rain was nixed, even though it does have fantastic art, purely because I could do the same thing for one less mana with Sinkhole. Terminate is one of the best removal spells available, however I prefer to have the option of dealing with a planeswalker, only because in all the games I have played with this deck, the opponent has never had the mana needed to regenerate. I will certainly create a sideboard with your suggestions, and thanks again for the comment :)

The rack deals more damage when the chosen player has few cards in hand. There are hardly any discard effects in this deck, how does it work?

TheGhostlySheep My goodness! Looks like Black Vise got replaced accidentally for The Rack! Heres how the deck works: First, you destroy all of the opponents lands. Because they cannot play any cards (because of the lack of lands) they keep drawing and their hand builds up. Black Vise will deal 3 damage to someone with 7 cards in their hand every turn. Once the player reaches their maximum hand size, they must discard some cards, where Liliana's Caress deals more damage to them. Howling Mine makes them draw and therefor discard more, and Underworld Dreams leeches life anyway. Hope it helps!

I'd replace Black Vise for The Rack. Then I'd take out Nettlevine Blight for Black Vise because Nettlevine Blight is soo expensive.

CthulhusNo1FavCultist The Rack only works with smaller hands and discard decks (Its wording is messed up I know), and Phyrexian Obliterator is super evil and fun to use, but I would like to keep this deck creatureless because of Innocent Blood's removal qualities. I do aggree that Nettlevine Blight needs a cheaper substitute, and I'll definatly look into it. Thanks for the upvote and the input!

What about animating a land with Mishra's Groundbreaker and then Eradicate-ing it? It's expensive, only available late in the game and requires two cards, but seems pretty evil.

unos Snap157 if what I'm about to say works, that could be some broken-ass combo. If you make, say a swamp a creature, it still has the name swamp, so if you eradicate it wouldn't it remove all the swamps the opponent has in his hand, graveyard and library from the game? I don't know if this is what unos was thinking about but if it works it could super broken and worth trying.

Yes what i suggest is legal. It's just horribly slow. There is a famous card that turns swamps into creatures but it's risky to run it for monoblack decks and this author has explicitly stated multiple times that he desires no creatures. The card is Kormus Bell referenced in Jester's Sombrero a silly card that makes fun of Jester's Cap. Alternatively there's Genju of the Fens
For this deck's strategy Mishra's groundbreaker seems just better suited to me.

Note that eradicate doesn't work on black creatures like an animated genju of the fens.
If you are a fan of this strategy try Liquimetal Coating and Splinter in green. Add eternal witness to repeat. It's actually easier than the black eradicate strategy. Imho.

The problem is still the same. It's slow as hell and requires to combine two cards. It sure has a great effect on the hand and the library but i want this deck's author to give me his opinion on the viability o this idea.

unos,TheGhostlySheep I admit that the combo is definatly worth testing out and trying, and I will probably experiment with it in a seperate prototype deck. However, turning swamps into creatures does not work with Eradicate because swamps are technically black cards, and black land creatures when animated. With that being said, unless I can find a fast and cost efficiant way to make it happen, I probably won't encorperate it in the deck. Thanks for your input, I"m still open to all ideas!

Snap157 actually swamps and other basic lands are considered to be colourless, so basic lands would become colourless creatures. But I agree that it isn't very cost efficient.

Unless the animating card specifies a color (like Genju of the Fens, and Kormus Bell do with black), animated lands are colorless because they were colorless to begin with.(Mishra's Groundbreaker makes colorless land artifact creatures. Thanks for the comnent! Although a very inefficient one, it was still a very evil plan >:D

I've run a similar build in grixis and I have to say I like it. My only problem so far has been elves. Even just 1 turn behind on land or a kill spell will cost the game. With that, I think Terminate would be a great addition. Ezuri elves hate terminate. Sideboarding some Pyroclasm and Black Sun's Zenith will also help deal with aggro decks. I like all the art for Stone Rain so I always use it.
I'm telling you...elves scare me when I play control.
