I really like what you did with the deck, looks really fun and evil, My only issue would be that huge price tag for casual games. But since it looks so solid and works as is, have a plus +1! Seriously cool deck dude!

Mairon_Bauglir Thanks you! I have a budget section in the description, so that cuts the price down by about 445 dollars. Thanks again!

Does Fatal Push have a place in this deck? Seems like revolt is possible between the Strip Mines and Blights!

well no deck is unbeatable, simply due to the mirror match. Just saying lol

SorinSkies no, I'm afraid it doesn't. Innocent Blood gets around any kind of hexproof the opponents may have such as Bogles, and it doesnt limit me based on toughness. Fatal Push is a great card, but in casual play, I really dont want to be restricted any more than I need to be.

Dunadain never said it was unbeatable, It just hasn't lost a 2/3 match yet.

fair enough. How do you fight affinity? between Ornithopters, Darksteel Citadels, and Springleaf Drums, not to mention a very low curve that can go lower after side-boarding it looks like a nightmare.

I'm not hating on your deck, I just tried playing Land destruction in both Modern and EDH, both were epic fails but I loved playing them and am looking for ways to make them better

Dunadain lol no worries, Affinity is very hard. I covered it in the "weaknesses" section in the description. I sideboard out land destruction and bring in black boardwipes to control creatures until I can kill them with other spells like Underworld Dreams.

Cool, i'm considering buying into modern with this list! but im on a bit of a budget so im considering Yahenni's Expertise over damnation, free cast anything else in the deck seems good even if the power level is lower than Languish and Damnation .

The crucibles seem essential so no swapping those out, unfortunately for my wallet!

then you should note this is not modern legal. some of the essential cards are illegal to so if you want to go modern LD try red.

SorinSkies Unfortunatly, Modern isn't possible with this current list. Crucibles are nothing without Strip Mine, and Howling Mine, Black Vise, Sinkhole and Blight make up crucial parts of the deck. Your best bet for modern land destruction is to go for mono red, using spells like Stone Rain and burn.

A Rain of Tears is exactly the opponent's reaction to a match against this deck, +1

Your FNM is casual and not an actual format? I find it pretty incredible, bordering on unbelievable, that you never had a game where you were mana screwed or flooded. One or the other happens eventually although I guess you are playing with Dark ritual. But still, this deck can't do anything against a blue counter deck so does literally nobody at your LGS play blue? Where do you live and play?

EternalBrewmaster why so serious? I play in Westbrook, Maine at a place called Weekend Anime. Every Friday they put out sections for different formats. We have an EDH table, Standard table, Modern table, Casual table, etc. While we do have a shortage of blue players, Counter decks usually make for long games. Destroying their mana usually only allows them to play one counter per turn, and once they run out of initial counters and I speed up the draw process, I am able to slowly choke them out by removing their land. I have been mana flooded and screwed before, however a mulligan or two has always done the trick. Any more questions I can answer? If you don't like the deck I'll ask that you respectfully move on and don't upvote. Thanks

I didn't mean to be overly serious. It's just always a little surprising when people on here talk about how their deck is so good the whole deck had to be banned because nobody could handle it. Your LGS sounds awesome, next time I'm in Maine I'll have to stop by to check it out. Do other people at the casual tables come to the games expecting to face strip mine or are they actually playing casual decks? I'm used to thinking of decks marked "casual" as decks built to play for fun. Not essentially poor-mans vintage designed to spike the meta. Also, this deck should be running Pox and Smallpox since you're building without restrictions and they both literally do your strategy better than the cards you're already playing. All the best.

The people in my playgroup and I have a running competition for who can build the most overpowered decks. It really depends on your definition of Casual play. For us, Casual means without restrictions and to go all out. For others, casual can mean a cheap deck made from scratch. Both are made just for fun. I haven't included any pox cards because while they are phenominal, they hurt me as well, and the discard effect hurts my use of cards such as Black Vise. Thanks for the input.

Costly but Price of Knowledge

Journeytodiscoverychannel maybe, it seems a bit expensive cmc-wise. What would you take out for it?

February 22, 2017 1:56 p.m.

Liliana's Caress would be taken out Price of Knowledge pairs great with Black Vise but leaves lilianas caress useless

February 23, 2017 8:13 p.m.

Snap157 says... #24

True, but I'm still looking at the cost. If I happen to be playing cheap life gain, then I think would be hurting me as well. By building up the opponents hand I force them to discard, with no negative impacts on my side. Thanks for the input!

February 23, 2017 8:39 p.m.

Ghost Quarter would help thin out their land draws when you have other destroy land cards Spawning Pool a blocker that can come back
