Reach Through Mists should be substituted for any other 1CMC cantrip. One card for one card isn't that effective.

I know. I wanted to use Crimson Wisps but it's a bit expensive

Fifty cents is expensive?

Sort of. This deck is extreme budget, but I put it in anyways

The Kiln Fiend is worth as much as the Crimson Wisps, and the two phyrexian spells are more. In the scenario described in the description, if I'm not mistaken... if they declare a blocker, your creature is considered blocked, and damage doesn't go through to the player. You would have to Unsummon it before blocks are declared. Instead, you could cast Artful Dodge (or even TWICE) before combat. Also, Assault Strobe is only a quarter. I'm in the process myself of toying around with Tormenting Voice in my own deck, Pump It Up (Nivix Style); you don't net any cards, but it's essentially a free trigger that lets you filter/optimize your hand. You should also carry some Dispel or Mizzium Skin, at least in the side since your few creatures will absolutely be targeted for death as quickly as possible.

No, but the blockers are only assigned. You can play Unsummon as blockers are assigned as it is an instant and damage has not been done. As for Assault Strobe and Artful Dodge, I already have them

Also, as for Dispel and Mizzium Skin, mizzium skin doesn't help as my deck is designed to be so quick that the opponent can't do anything. I will put them in the sideboard in case the opponent uses Path to Exile

There's a ton of kill spells that can kill a Kiln Fiend on or before Turn 3 (your lethal swing) from Doom Blade and Go for the Throat, to Path to Exile, to Lightning Bolt, and since you're a one-creature-one-swing wonder, I'd be protective, even just sticking a pair of Dispel in for anything.

Honestly, my favorite countermagic here is Stubborn Denial because it's a counter-anything for as casting it triggers the pumps and activates ferocious.

Quite often I see things like Gitaxian Probe or even Peek just to see what the opponent is holding so to play aware/play around it.

I'm sure Young Pyromancer is out of budget, but it does leave behind weenies in grindier matches.

Spell Rupture is also a great counterspell that works with Kiln Fiend and such. It grabs everything as apposed to only non-creature spells.

It's a bit too slow for me and this isn't a control deck

I would suggest 4 Gitaxian Probe and 4 Serum Visions to get a higher storm count, (so more free attack points) and to dig for more cards. I also think it would be interesting to see a sideboard that literally gave you a storm deck post-board so your opponent will side in creature removal after game 1 and then you will have no creatures and win through storm.

That defeats the cost though, but I still think it would be cool. Maybe build a budgetless version on TA? Cool deck!

Yeah I know they would both be awesome ( especially gitax ) but they are out of my budget. Thanks for the suggestions though!

If you can find/budget them, Distortion Strike for the rebound (as long as they don't kill your dude). I even like Hidden Strings since it will either tap blockers and/or untap the mana you spent to cast it, acting as a potentially-free trigger, and even double-trigger if it hits the player.

Oh yeah, and add some UR duals to make the deck more consistent, especially because you don't have a T1 play, so a tapped UR land is perfect. I would try to limit the amount you play though, because turns 2+ are important for this deck.

The cheap UR duals are Izzet Guildgate and Swiftwater Cliffs.

This deck is awesome! I have a similar pauper deck. How do you get a background?

How do you mess with your back ground like that?

also Fling might be pretty good in here. It acts like assault strobe in the sense that it doubles damage out put.

I'd add monastery swiftspears because running only 8 creatures with no draw spells usually ends in a bad day. Also, add some cantrips such as a thoughtscour or manamorphose or serum visions in a budgetless version of this deck.

Distortion Strike and Monastery Swiftspear are out of my budget, and I find Wee Dragonauts as well as cantrips slow down the deck. Fling I'm considering. Thanks for commenting all!
