Only one spell, but could help out a lot. Definitely consider it seriously

I think the trample is quite good, but with Apostle's Blessing and Artful Dodge you already have a good bit of evasion. Maybe Messenger's Speed or even Crimson Wisps?

Crimson Wisps doesn't work well because although it is a cantrip, the haste is useless as the turn you play Kiln Fiend you'll have no mana and Messenger's Speed isn't a instant or sorcery, so no buffs :(

Cerulean Wisps is the other option for a pure cantrip that will let you play defense (if needed) after damage.

I tried this deck with cantrips, and found they weren't really necessary, but maybe. It also increases the price of the deck, but thanks for the suggestions! If I put them in, how many and what to replace?

I would cut Flame Slash from the main for Cerulean Wisps if it were me. You might not always be needing the creature burn; I'd rather pump my dude then draw a card hoping for another instant pump. The idea of the deck is to swing unblockable and win, caring very little for creatures your opponents are playing... at least that's how I play my version of this.

Flame Slash kills Spellskite, and helps against any other fast decks I would face like infect, my deck, and a bunch more. I don't just use it to remove blockers, but also to help on defense with all the phyrexian mana, I can get down to 8 or lower

You know better than I do what you need in your meta, but Slash sounds -to me- like a sidebd card. It's all you man.

Flyers167 says... #11

Yeah, feel free to adjust the deck depending on your meta. I use it frequently, but if not really for you, feel free to change it in your version or sideboard it

+1 from me. There you go: 60 points for your 60 damage. :P

I'd personally choose Manamorphose over Flame Slash, as you really don't need to focus on creature removal. I mentioned this for my friend's kiln fiend-deck and now I hate myself....

I know, free spells op in this deck, but Manamorphose is just out of my budget ( I can't believe I'm saying this about a 2 dollar card ). Thanks for the vote! :P

Hidden Strings could be a free cast, and/or a valuable control tool for the super budget constrained, not only untapping the mana to cast it, but another two things when you deal damage (and the Cipher trigger actually casts a copy of the spell, hitting another trigger, but after damage so kinda useless there).

June 4, 2015 7:36 p.m.

Flyers167 says... #15

How so a free cast?

June 4, 2015 8:41 p.m.

thewyzman says... #16

Well, tap two to play it, then untap the mana you just tapped.

June 4, 2015 8:42 p.m.

Flyers167 says... #17

Oh yeah. That's going in

June 4, 2015 8:45 p.m.

thewyzman says... #18

Or you can untap any of up to two mana and/or any of up to two blockers if you don't have evasion. I can't justify using four, but a single or a couple can always find a use.

June 4, 2015 8:46 p.m.

Flyers167 says... #19

Well, If you have plenty of instants and sorceries, use it as a free cast! If you don't use it to tap/untap somthing

@Flyers167: not to make u sad or anything, but your deck is now listed as 18 dollars; i.e. More than 12 dollars. =p so you are over-budget. Manamorphose ftw!

Flyers167 says... #21

You're not making me sad! That's the TCG player mid price, although it is almost 13

June 5, 2015 5:26 p.m.

I tested this and it took me restarting THREE times, mulling 4 on each, so a total of 12 hands to get a good one. And that one turned out to be mana-blocked. Not sure what you could do to fix it, but I just wanted to let you know.

June 5, 2015 5:56 p.m.

Flyers167 says... #23

Oh. You sir, are an unlucky person. If you want inconsistency try 11.7% OF THE TIME, IT WORKS EVERY TIME.

June 5, 2015 5:58 p.m.

The first time I tested that deck, I actually got the winning hand in three mulls :)

But on the deck, I would add some lands that produce mana of both colors. It's really annoying having two Islands and a Kiln Fiend in hand XD

I made a similar list in mono red to avoid mana screw. It seems fragile though and I'm not sure what to add.
