Maybe a Blind Obedience for anti-aggro? Hellraiser Goblin is a thought to get all your creatures out there and attacking faster. Maybe a Thundermaw Hellkite or Zealous Conscripts to top the curve. Conscripts also goes with the human plan. Ash Zealot is also a thought. Your mana could support it. Rakdos Cackler seems like a possible 1-drop. +1

If you ever do 15+ damage in one attack, you should say, "That escalated quickly."

Thanks for the suggestions guys! As this deck continues to be tested and edited, all of your thoughts will be kept in mind.

@kpontau In keeping with the Anchorman theme of the name, I believe your suggestion is appropriate lol. I just wish Searing Spear was a trident lol.

I like what you're doing. If I were to make any suggestion...Move Thalia, Guardian of Thraben to the Sideboard and bring Skullcrack to the mainboard. Especially considering all the card:Sphinx's Revelations, Thragtusk s and Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip s we are seeing being played.

Thanks for the input! That decision will probably end up being a meta decision later. Although Skullcrack is stupendous at stopping life gain, it's a little more narrow than I'd care for main board unless I'm expecting to run into life gain repeatedly. Thanks!

I'm running a similar deck, Boros are great, yours is pretty faster, though. I'm having a great problem against bigger creatures, like turn 1 card:Avacyn's Pilgrim or Arbor Elf , turn 2 Loxodon Smiter so common at Selesnya aggro. Combined with Silverblade Paladin and Rancor it can swing VERY VIOLENTLY on turn 3. Later Wolfir Silverheart can be very troublesome too. Do you have any advice on how to deal with them? Great deck, by the way. +1

Thanks for the comment and +1. Unfortunately, that will probably be problematic for this deck as well. Thalia does little to slow that down and really you just have to hope you can swing in faster and harder. In the right situation You can trade with Loxodon Smiter with Legion Loyalist backed with Searing Spear but if they drew that hand with Rancor you are still looking at taking 5. The great thing about Boros, though, is the smaller creatures will allow you to reboot faster and hopefully you will counter attacking for more than the 5 you had to take turn 3.

I was looking at Gatecrash cards and Smite might be a good response to this, since you can declare blocker and destroy the creature before any combat damage is assigned. And also, is REALLY cheap. A thinkable option for sideboard.

That is actually really good. I forgot about that card and it could see some major play against selesnya aggro.

Well let's not forget that Skullcrack works to deal damage as well as stop life gaining.

Of course! TBH I am sorely tempted to main board it, as aggro decks typically are weak against life gain, but 3 damage straight to the face is doable with Searing Spear with the added versatility of being able to burn away creatures. I just can't see me taking Thalia, Guardian of Thraben to the sideboard when she does so much to stall so many things (board sweepers for instance). What I sorely need is a way to playtest other decks with GTC cards available, because if I could make a 2/2 split with Searing Spear and Skullcrack work, I'm totally doing it.

Thalia, Guardian of Thraben will do little to stop the big sweepers like a miracled Bonfire of the Damned or a miracled Terminus . what you will see it affect is slowing a Supreme Verdict to a t5 play instead of a t4 play, and making an overloaded Mizzium Mortars a t7 play instead of a t6 play...assuming of course that in none of those situations, any ramp was played. I like Thalia, Guardian of Thraben but sometimes I think I would rather play an Ash Zealot for the first strike haste and hurt them for flashing back...or play a Precinct Captain buffed to make sure he does damage or pair him with a Silverblade Paladin or Wolfir Silverheart ...anywho...to each his own...i like the deck, +1...but I think it would better if you mainboarded Skullcrack and sideboarded Thalia, Guardian of Thraben especially if you play some janky deck that's super aggro and playing very little non-creature spells....then she's only hurting you good luck.

Thalia, Guardian of Thraben should never come out of the mainboard. The difference between a T4 and T5 Supreme Verdict from your opponent can be the difference between winning and losing in this deck. What I would change is Searing Spear to Skullcrack mainboard. Skullcrack is just so nice if the opponent is playing Thragtusk or card:Sphinx's Revelation (which almost everyone is). It allows you to prevent the life gain, make sure the damage from your creatures goes through, and does damage itself. How well does Stromkirk Noble work in here? I can see him doing very well against the mirror match up but against anything else I feel like 2 more Boros Elite , 2 more Legion Loyalist , or a few Spark Trooper s would work much better. Check out my boros humans, Casey and His Brother

Very true. Like I said, definetely going to need to do some playtesting with this. I like your suggestion, though, I really do. Skullcrack is begging to be main boarded. Btw, your +1 didn't go through, and I really appreciate it. Good luck to you as well!

I've been playtesting my deck using proxies and my buddies are starting to get pissed about my winning turn 4 and 5 consistently lol. I tried +1ing again and it didn't make a difference so it must have gone through the first time

Unless you were talking to the other guy lol

I haven't had a chance to playtest it yet, but every deck I've played Stromkirk Noble in has impressed me at how good he works. I see your point though, I'm not always going to be swinging into humans. I'm really not impressed with Boros Elite but I suppose he's not much worse of a top deck than Stromkirk Noble is. The only problem I have with taking Searing Spear out for Skullcrack is that it basically removes any disruption I have main board. And in the same train of thought as Stromkirk Noble , I won't always be facing up against life gain. I think it's really going to end up being a meta call. I haven't reply played at my TGS in awhile and if life gain is super prevelant I probably will main board Skullcrack . Thanks for the comments guys!

@hollandboys lol yea I was talking to MTGNoobs about the +1. I probably will try to do some proxy testing soon.

January 23, 2013 3:17 p.m.

Yeah. I dont usually like aggro to much. But i like this so i will give you a +1. Also I take it that you dont want Aurelia, the Warleader in there because of cost?

January 23, 2013 3:39 p.m.

evil_monkey says... #20

Yea, she's a little above the curve I'm looking for in the deck. And thanks!

January 23, 2013 3:41 p.m.

evil_monkey says... #21

Btw, nothingbutblue, you didn't actually +1 :p Thanks!

January 23, 2013 4:14 p.m.

I've been toying with a Boros deck too, and I really like Burning-Tree Emissary . Theoretically, you could play her turn 2, then use the mana she produces to play a Lightning Mauler . pair, and swing for up to, I think, 7ish on turn 2.

Where's Ash Zealot ? I know she's mana intensive but she's awesome.

January 23, 2013 8:55 p.m.

evil_monkey says... #23

I thought about Burning-Tree Emissary , but because I'm not running any green, she becomes just as hard on my curve as Ash Zealot . I really like Ash Zealot but I need to do more testing before I commit as curving from Ash Zealot into Silverblade Paladin can be problematic and for competitive aggro, I really need the deck to be as consistent as possible. Like I said, I need more testing done, so I will get back to you on that. Thanks!

January 23, 2013 9:25 p.m.

Let me know how the testing goes. I'm considering brewing a deck similar to yours, so I'm definitely interested in the outcome. :)

January 23, 2013 9:34 p.m.

MTGNoobs says... #25

see, you could totally make this a naya deck and then burning tree emissary becomes an asset =P
