9-Fingers Keene blends - three win conditions:

  • Maze’s End Combo – Playing Gates until you control 10 unique ones, instantly winning the game (if you have one of the three cards that keep lands untapped on the battlefield).
  • Commander Damage – Keene has a unique Ward ability and Menace, making her a great target for buffs.
  • Field of the Dead Grind – (Less valuable and not the main focus) Creating an army of zombie tokens that can change the late game.

Opponents need to interact early with your lands, or you will win out of nowhere.

  • Keene’s unique Ward ability forces opponents to spend resources just to interact with her. With the right buffs, Keene can kill in 2-3 swings.

Field of the Dead can also win you the game. It synergizes with mana ramp; for example, casting Scapeshift or Reshape the Earth → Instant zombie army.

One of my favorite decks I’ve built, if not my absolute favorite.

but :

  • Weak to land destruction – If Maze’s End and recursion pieces are exiled, the deck glow down
  • Keene itself could be better...(if only her cmc was UBG..)– Needs some setup turns before stabilizing.
