Let's get squeaky, let's freaky, let's get bootleg Kiki-Jiki.

If there's anything I'm a sucker for, besides aggro decks, it's an unconventional new take on Red/White design space. Following initial reactions to Duskmourn, I think it's pretty evident that The Jolly Balloon Man is going to be one of the more popular commander options from this set. Similarly, 99 Red Balloons, Stephen King's It, and Junji Ito's The Hanging Balloons homages will all likely be very popular deck name options for Balloon Man.

Although Nena's 99 Red Balloons is a classic in its own right, hearing Goldfinger's version in the Rocket Power: Race Across New Zealand movie as a kid was my introduction to the song. On that note, I hope this deck channels that early 2000s bombastic feel in its plan.

The first draft of this deck aims to keep things pretty simple and straight forward:

1. Utilize a variety of ETB effects to: Accumulate value, ping the table for damage, and establish board presence.

2. Assemble a combo loop that kills the rest of the table once established

3. Use some token generation for defense, or flip to offense if needed as a fallback plan.

Primer WIP as I play test and make edits. TBD if I like this deck enough to build it irl, and have it replace my Nelly Borca, Impulsive Accuser deck. At first impression it feels like a more stripped down and combo focused version of what I kind of already have going on with my Satya, Aetherflux Genius deck.

Combo options

The deck currently runs a couple of overlapping combo options. As usual, the pieces can stand on their own, and won't necessarily be dead draws without the other pieces.

Combo 1, Karma is a b-

• Goblin Bombardment + Karmic Guide + Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker (or another "free" sac outlet like Fanatical Devotion or Ashnod's Altar, especially if an Impact Tremors effect is active)

The link above explains how the loop works in step by step detail. The TL;DR is that Goblin Bombardment is used to sac Kiki-Jiki so that copies of Karmic Guide can recur Kiki to restart the loop, and machine gun down the table with damage pings.

Combo 2, Ring My Bell

• Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Village Bell-Ringer

The TL;DR of this combo is that Kiki-Jiki is used to make a copy of Village Bell-Ringer, which then ETBs to untap Kiki and restart the loop. This combo has a couple of different paths:

• If done before combat, can create an arbitrary number of haste-y Village Bell-Ringers to swarm the rest of the table with in combat.

• Can also be augmented with an Impact Tremors damage effect to eliminate the necessity for combat.
