Prologue
This deck was made mostly for fun rather than to be competitive, thats not to say any advice is unwelcome. Please comment on what you think, what it needs and/or what you would put in and change around. progression is always sought after! oh and + ones :D
I will explain how i intend this deck to work further in the description.
Concerning Combo's
Archangel of Thune, Fathom Mage and Horizon Chimera.
This combination should be no stranger to most, it has been floating around Tapped Out for some time now. For those who are unfamiliar with it, i will explain:
When all three cards are on the field an "infinite" cycle can occur by gaining just 1 life. Archangel of Thune's ability adds +1/+1 counters to all creatures including Fathom Mage which then allows card draw which in-turn trigers Horizon Chimera's ability, which starts the cycle again. However there is no need to worry about drawing your entire library the wording on Fathom Mage allows you to stop at any time!
This combo is not my creation but always found it a fun crazy combo. This deck tries to race out the combo as soon as possible. A description on how this deck is intended to work will be found further in the description.
The Deck
Soldier of the Pantheon
- A great guy, has protection from multicoloured and the ability to give life for that combo trigger! (really makes multicoloured decks fun to play against) A solid 1 drop.
Sylvan Caryatid - hex-proof, an early game defender and a mana fix! Can really speed things up, great for a turn four Archangel of Thune or Prophet of Kruphix
Courser of Kruphix - missed dropping land this turn? well have another go at it! For a combo that relies on three cards this is really a staple, getting that mana is crucial and this babe sorts it all out! Plus another Life-gain trigger for the combo, when you drop a land into play! (we really want to trigger that combo pre-combat phase to swing hard!)
Prophet of Kruphix - The un-tapping this card provides is great. vigilance is always nice! But the real value comes from the ability to flash in creatures! Flashing in that last piece EOT is a the Cherry this cake needs!
The following Creatures are ideally used together but even if that combo isn't reached they all play a nice part in the deck.
Archangel of Thune - Her presence alone is a blessing, life-link, flying and counters for all! Truly an angel!
Horizon Chimera - Flying and trample, this makes this chimera very evasive! can easily punch through that damage! and the life gain per card is great!
Fathom Mage - Ok, so this ones not so great on its own. Quite a mana intensive evolve card. but the card draw does let you keep on top of things! And finally she has a place to belong :D
Gift of Orzhova
- A great buff to make things just a little harder to block so we can swing with some devastating effects. Also great life-link tool! Lets face it we want ALL the life link ALL the time!
Unflinching Courage - More life-link, seriously life-link here is boss! blocking will trigger the combo effect, applies after combat of course but that means next turn we can swing for nasty! and now with trample!
Side Board
Elixir of Immortality - Because we're already half milling ourselves we don't want to vs a mill deck with out 4 of these!Plus recycling library is fun!
Negate - To play against that pesky counter or any other instant that brings the pain! (gives me shivers)
Omenspeaker
- To replace Courser of Kruphix when playing against control. courser of kruphix's reveal card ability is really helping them out most of the time and omenspeakers scry 2 is great!
Silence - (maybe at this point)
