Inquisition of Kozilek-at this point, I have no idea why anybody wouldn't play discard. It's just so insanely good.
Thoughtseize-see Inquisition of Kozilek
Mausoleum Wanderer-Stricly better than Cursecatcher, this little guy is a multidimensional card that makes combo players cry. It can function as an efficient beater (especially with Lingering Souls), or it can savagely destroy a well timed Karn, Ugin, Ad Nauseum, etc...
Path to Exile-Is this the most played card in Modern? Lemme check... Nope, still Lightning Bolt. Guess we have to be Jeskai Spirits now.
Fatal Push-Rattlechains to Geist of Saint Traft: "Yeah that Tarmogoyf just kinda fell over and didn't get back up again."
Rattlechains-wierdly good in this deck. Basically at any point it's a 2/1 flash hexproof, which isn't bad, but with other spirits in hand it becomes an absolute powerhouse. Flashing in a Geist of Saint Traft feels better than you think it does.
Selfless Spirit-how nice of him(her) to take the brunt of that Supreme Verdict/Damnation/Wrath of God/Anger of the Gods.
Phantasmal Image-often bad, sometimes amazing. We're counting this as a "lord" even though it really isn't, but the upside of this card is too difficult to ignore. Most spirit decks run more, but 1 is good enough for us.
Collective Brutality-I only include this card because it reminds me of Soviet propaganda.
Kira, Great Glass-Spinner-"If it's good enough for Merfolk, it's good enough for me." Also it just happens to be a spirit. And it synergizes well with a lot of stuff.
Drogskol Captain-Remember how I said that Spirits didn't have enough lords. Well, we do have one, and it's insanely good. If there was something even as close to as good as the Captain out there, Spirits would be a Modern staple. Even so, if we get a Captain down it's mostly game over.
Geist of Saint Traft-believe it or not, some decks still just lose to a turn 3 Geist. Yes it's that good. And it's a spirit.
Lingering Souls-it seems like a common theme here that we take cards that are Modern playable regularly and put them in a deck where they have extreme synergies. This card is no exception. It's three of the six reasons why Esper Spirits is better than Bant Spirits, mainly because it's just stupid good. Play it, flashback it, love it.
