A Budget Sigarda Human Deck

Commander / EDH Budget Tokens Tribal

Shadows Over Innistrad gave us a good pile of effective EDH Commanders, and Sigarda's one of them that doesn't need to burn a whole in your pocket (now, at least). At about $2, Sigarda's a good commander for a tribe that doesn't necessarily have a good tribal commander (although, you are able to make a good Human Tribal deck in Green/White or White without Sigarda).

This deck is primarily a Human tribal deck with some token support, a bit of both creature and enchantment/artifact removal. It has done well for me in two and four player games.

Pros:

  • Inexpensive: Most expensive cards are Mirari's Wake and Mayor of Avabruck, and Mayor's been on the chopping block for a while (he has been both really good and troublesome, since opponents have in the past skipped their turns so he transforms, losing the +1/+1 to Humans)

  • Creature Protection: Hexproof makes it easier for you to get the job done, and since (almost) every creature in this deck is a human, you don't have to worry too much about targeting abilities.

  • Player Protection: Sigarda not only protects your humans, but you as well. Avoid effects, ranging from Sen Triplets, to Bribery, to many Planeswalker ultimate abilities (such as Garruk, Apex Hunter; Ob Nixilis Reignited; Sorin Markov ; etc.)

  • Boardwipe-Resilient: Since having a full graveyard is what Sigarda wants, boardwipes aren't as detrimental as they can be for most tribal decks.

Cons:

  • Low Curve: Many humans fit between 1 and 5 converted mana cost and aren't much than 3/3s. While that does mean you can win quickly, it also means that you might struggle dealing with big, fat creatures.

  • Limited Resources: Sigarda's ability relies on you having things in your grave, so if you're having trouble getting stuff in there, she may not be making as many tokens as you'd like (can be remedied with a few 'self-mill' cards)

  • Creature-Reliant: Spells that stop creatures from attacking ruin this deck, such as Propaganda. Keep a few Naturalize-effects around to remedy those.

Considerations (things you might want to find as well: Explains the Maybeboard):
