A Cheeky Crank

Modern*

MorgRiot

Sideboard

Creature (4)

Sorcery (2)

I have been battling with this deck for a while now, and I have learnt some lessons. I know other people have tried to get this mechanic to resolve, and have found it often does too late. By which point a solid aggro deck has dominated you.

Bloodchief Ascension combining with Mindcrank will kill your opponent outright for 3 mana (1B2M), as long as your opponent puts a card in their graveyard. Memory Sluice will mill for 4; that's 8 damage with Bloodchief and 16 if you 'Conspire' the Sluice. Without Mindcrank in play, you'll need to use Sluice's 'conspire' ability once more if your opponents on 20 life. You'll need 4 creatures in play to do that.

In total those cards only cost 4 mana toplay, but the sluice is just an extra option if you miss Mindcrank. As are any other of the card removal spells.

Generally speaking I have two ways of supporting this target mechanic. I either go control (with tutors and lots of removal), or aggro with a relevant set of creatures, usually centering around Bloodghast. The latter option is better, but you need Demonic Tutor and a hefty number of burn spells/abilities.
