So NSFW doesn't have a second definition. Thanks, SynergyBuild.

No problem, I'm glad I could help despite not really liking the topic, but this is a great resource for newer users to the site, and I am really glad you built it!

Mind if I link this deck onto my primer All About EDH? I will give full credit to you and a link to both your user page and this decklist, but you can ask for me to take it down if you want!

I thought in this context, NSFW actually stood for "Not Safe For Wallet" in that it was a tag you could use for bank breaking decks. I remember YeaGO saying something about it.
August 23, 2018 8:34 p.m.
enpc Hmm. I haven't seen that, but originally I couldn't find anything that defined NSFW in a M:tG context here or anywhere else. (I did learn a lot that I really didn't want to...) So I went with SynergyBuild's definition. Do you remember where yeaGO talked about it? yeaGO, does this sound familiar?

Oh, the exact description for NSFW is at https://tappedout.net/mtg-deck-builder/nsfw-decks/
It says:
"Not Safe For Work. Can refer to either a deck with a theme or card art perceived as inappropriate or lewd, or to a deck that deliberately creates tension between players."

SynergyBuild Thanks for the link. And to whoever copied and pasted my definitions, while I'm very willing to contribute to the site, please at least let me know when I do. Check https://tappedout.net/mtg-deck-builder/solar-flare-decks/ against my definition under Solar Flare above. yeaGO, I assume you're in charge of these hub links. Could you please address this as needed?

Well, there you go. I might have been thinking of a Google ad showing up on T/O from a few years back. Everything blends into everything these days.

Solar Flare was an old standard Esper control list based on ramp with signets and the like, and existed around kamigawa-ravnica standard, http://www.starcitygames.com/magic/standard/12799_The_History_of_Solar_Flare.html has more info on the topic, but it ran sweepers, big threats, ramp, recursion, counterspells, card draw, and removal, as any normal control list does.
The main threats Solar Flare ran were Angel of Despair, Meloku the Clouded Mirror, Yosei, the Morning Star, and Kokusho, the Evening Star, and had really cool interactions such as using non-land ramp like Dimir Signet in conunctions with karoos like Azorius Chancery to get mana through Hokori, Dust Drinker and used effects that discard like Sift and Compulsive Research along with Zombify.
Some of the countermagic it ran were along the likes of Mana Leak and Remand, it had sweepers like Wrath of God, and removal ranging from Mortify to Condemn, and even ran discard like Persecute. It ran Clutch of the Undercity as removal, burn, and a tutor for Wrath of God, Persecute, Zombify, Sift, Ivory Mask, and Hokori, Dust Drinker, and made it have extreme versatility.

SynergyBuild That's a good description, almost a full decklist. The trick is to condense it down into a couple of short sentences.
"A versatile Esper deck seen in Kamigawa-Ravnica standard with a wide variety of control effects and interactions, leading to a reanimator finisher."
Does something like that hit the right notes?

I should also add that I read the article as part of my research for this--thanks for putting it up, and I should put links to the resources I used. Again, it does a great job of describing the versatility and interactions of Solar Flare, but I never quite found was Solar Flare is.

Yeah, it's like the old academy decks, they aren't really an archetype or anything, but a very specific deck. I like the description you gave it, but even though it can lead to a reanimator finish, it commonly just ramps into a finisher as well. In fact normally it hard casts something like Kokusho, the Evening Star or Yosei, the Morning Star, let them die as a blocker or to the opponents' removal, then reanimate it, which leads to many death triggers, and will get a win from nearly any deck. I'd say '[...] leading to a large finisher with ramp and reanimate effects.'

@legendofa, looks like there needs to be a minor update to include the Arena hub. Apparently it has been decided that it doesn't need to be its own format on the site now.

NSFW decks means not safe for work, and is generally used to describe decks built with the intention of being lewd or innapropriate, though is also a meme hub for decks that are considered 'toxic' by their designers. Such decks in the former category might by decks based on innapropriate altered art, and the latter might be a stax build that is generally disliked.
