That's ok, but remember Far is technically a murder if used on a token, so it could be a potential sideboard against a nasty Advent of the Wurm or other tokens

Shouldn't be a problem with a first strike, deathtouch creature. :P

So after looking at the deck and reading the comments here's what I think:

Heartless Summoning is a fantastic card that would greatly increase the speed of this deck, but if you run them, you can't do it without the help of Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker and Mikaeus, the Unhallowed : bolas blows up the summonings when you have the board you need, mikaeus buffs your guys not once, but twice if they end up dying.
Bloodgift Demon is a double edged sword- but only for your opponent with the sire in play. you target them, they're down a life, and unless they manage to draw an instant speed threat, they're one card closer to decking. Targeting yourself isn't even that bad with all that control, by the time you drop sire you've taken all the gas out of them.
Notion Thief should probably be in your sideboard for opponents with too much draw power against the sire.
All your counterspells I feel are just dead cards more often than not, to get the most out of your sire, you have to plan on dropping him asap. I would in place of these counterspells, run Dispel , as this is the cheapest counter that will counter anything (aside from flash dudes) your opponent will be able to play while you still have a hand.
For the sake of recursion for everything the sire forces you to drop, I would consider running 1 or 2 Havengul Lich and Snapcaster Mage

If you're set on running all the counterspells though, think about Underworld Connections and Snapcaster Mage so you can have a potential counterspell on your opponent's turn.

i like Heartless Summoning and Mikaeus, the Unhallowed . they create a faster and more durable board presence. thanks!

cut the Nephalia Drownyard for Stensia Bloodhall its awesome against plainswalkers and kills your Opponent after Master of Cruelties connected.
I Know it looks bad, but what is 5 mana for the win really,... and youre not going to deck your opponents anyway,... are you ?

tempest says... #7

i had it before but i cut it because i had too many lands that didn't produce colored mana. i don't think i need too many damage dealing cards anyways. i already have 2 Ral Zarek 3 Turn / Burn 3 Staff of Nin and all the other creatures that can attack after an overloaded Cyclonic Rift . also, Dreadbore and Cyclonic Rift takes care of the planeswalkers. Stensia Bloodhall is also limited to players whereas the other cards i listed are not.

i choose Nephalia Drownyard in case i do chance upon a control deck. if i don't, i still like to see my opponent's deck for the next round. the opponent could potentially deck out. they do dump their hand every turn which limits their chances of winning.

thanks for commenting though!

Mercurial Chemister also works amazing with Sire Of Insanity

May 6, 2013 4:10 p.m.

Is Mikaeus, the Unhallowed here just to protect your demons? He seems a little pit of place.

I love seeing the Ral Zarek and Gilded Lotus combo, I'm breaking that in my RUG Midrange deck. The Sire Of Insanity and Tamiyo Emblem combo is sweet as well. Perhaps Reap Intellect as a finisher with your mana production? That card seems nuts to me.

@ Davis5127 while he does have synergy with Sire Of Insanity , it's insignificant compared to what some of the other cards I have in here. It also has too much competition with the other cards for the 5 mana slot.

@Ballin_Like_Stalin mikaeus does protect my demons by giving them 2 lives but its also in there to make Master of Cruelties a good blocker while still having Heartless Summoning to play it a lot earlier. It's 6 mana which means I can drop ral turn 4 and lotus then mikaeus/Staff of Nin turn 5. It creates a decent mana curve.

Thanks to both of you for commenting and the +1s that are coming if they haven't already. :P

Oh, and it also has intimidate which gives it some kind of evasion as well as discouraging humans, which is basically present in any creature deck.

Gave it a +1 :)

Think you could check out my deck Cruel Melek Mill w999? It does pretty well but without the correct lands it's about a 50/50 chance of getting screwed every game.

Do you think Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and Heartless Summoning could be thrown into the deck without owning a lotus?

I'll check out your deck as soon as I get a chance. Also, I'm not sure if the +1 showed up. :(

I think it would be wise to add in some powerful flashback cards like Think Twice and Devil's Play due to Master of Cruelties 's ability. I also find that he's great with Blood Scrivener .

May 7, 2013 7:13 p.m.

tempest says... #15

honestly, i think Think Twice and Blood Scrivener are not as good as Staff of Nin . Think Twice can only be cast during my turn to cast another card. that means i must have 3 extra mana in addition to the mana cost of the cards i just drew to be able not to waste them. Blood Scrivener dies to Heartless Summoning . and Devil's Play would more often be a dead card than not.

Well I'm looking at their value under the assumption that Sire Of Insanity is down. Devil's Play can happily wait in the graveyard until you have mana, and the others were just utils with him down. I guess heartless runs scrivener though.

yea but i'd rather draw a Staff of Nin than either of the mentioned flashback cards.

Yea if you reliably have the 6cmc then it's defs better.

Not reading all the comments cause I'm too lazy, so I apologize if what I say has been said already!

Keep Sire Of Insanity ! It makes this deck cool and combo-y and I like that kind of thing :P.

Seems like you need a little more removal, or juts better removal. I would take out the Turn / Burn for something like Murder , or maybe Counterflux (kind of thinking more

thing here).

Seems to me like 4x Master of Cruelties is a bit much, especially with Staff of Nin . I would say drop maybe 1-2x of him in favor of something to protect him, like counterspells.

I would also say that Cavern of Souls could be helpful in here as like a 2 of, as since both of your main cards are demons, it could grant some protection.

I also feel like some lower costing board wipes could be good (as Cyclonic Rift is 7), but the only ones in your color scheme that I can think of right now are Mizzium Mortars (which would only cost one less), Mutilate and Killing Wave . I'm not sure how good Mutilate would be considering the number of swamps you have, but just something to think about. One board wipe that could be really cool/good is Bonfire of the Damned . The miracle on this baby+Sire Of Insanity can give you more value from your draws, as you will always have the chance of miracle-ing it and blowing your opponent away. It basically grants you the chance for more instrumental draws. Two other cards that could be good would be #1: Think Twice , but I'm not sure what you would remove and #2: Blood Scrivener . He could be really funny, and I would maybe go -2 mikeaus +2 scrivener.

Hope this helped, and +1!

Whoa, Bolas for a Better Tomorrow has like an automatic deck large thing built in...

Blood Scrivener definitely has a lot of synergy with sire, but without mikeaus the heartless summonings kill him. I'd drop something else in favor of the scriveners

May 15, 2013 7:48 a.m.

Hmm I'm going to go with what buffy said -- too lazy to read all of the comments :P I just happened to see the first line of his.

I think Blood Scrivener would be a good addition should you keep Sire Of Insanity . Keeping the Sire would also warrant keeping Cyclonic Rift -- it's a nice way to get rid of a lot of things.

I think the counts on the mana acceleration can be reduced (meaning Chromatic Lantern , Gilded Lotus , and Heartless Summoning ). I think the latter of the three is the best one to drop, in favor of more control/protection for your win cons.

You may want to drop the count on Master of Cruelties by one or two in favor of some more control as well.

Have you thought about Rogue's Passage in place of Glaring Spotlight ? That'll open up some more room as well.
