with all the islandwalk in here, card:Sea's Claim might be helpful

I would take Sleep off for a True Conviction . See, as you have evasion and splashed for white, I think it might help.

@ Baddie these are great suggestions but you know some players (like myself) are in a kind of a budget... where I live these linds are a lot expensive

Merfolk decks rocks! But I may give you some suggestions here:

card:Aquitect's Will instead of card:Sea's Claim or Spreading Seas , because it buys a card like the first, have the mana cost of the second, and it's a sorcery, so your opponent can't destroy the enchantment in order to escape your islandwalking.

Maybe I could suggest Harpoon Sniper instead of Avian Changeling ? Same cost, but it's an useful merfolk. Judge of Currents may help too.

But I guess the most important merfolk around is Lullmage Mentor , mainly with Merrow Commerce .

And the last thing: Merfolk Thaumaturgist makes a terrifying combo with Ovinize . These are my suggestions, but you decide what prefer! :)

Instead of Unsummon take Vapor Snag same costs same effect and + 1 damage

Stormtide Leviathan could help.

I would recommend less Merfolk Sovereign for more Master of the Pearl Trident ; less mana cost, and it gives islandwalk. card:Aquitect's Will is a really good tribal for island conversion. I would also give some thought to replacing Purity and Wanderwine Prophets with something of a lower mana cost that would prove useful throughout the game- they're both good cards, but have high mana and Wanderwine Prophets requires you to sacrifice a merfolk while it's on the field. And don't try to spread yourself out too far with control spells; if you have only a little on each side, it generally doesn't work. Shows a lot of promise though.

I wouldn't say to use Vapor Snag instead of Unsummon because you can also save a creature you control with it... And I agree with most part of what Cipher001 said; But if you decide to add Lullmage Mentor as I said, Wanderwine Prophets cost won't be so bad, 'cause you'll have tokens. And playing several turns one after another until you win - or until you run out of merfolks - is one of the best merfolks combos around.

I would suggest trying to go all merfolk for the creature base for full effect. Although you have good cards, having more of the tribe can only help you.

Stonybrook Schoolmaster would work great if you did use the Lullmage Mentor , and Sejiri Merfolk is a must have in any BW merfolk deck.

Wow, thanks for all the comments and support everyone! I thought my poor little deck was just going to live out it's days unviewed and unloved...:3

@ Baddie Though card:Sea's Claim is cheaper, I put in Spreading Seas because I wanted the draw effect as well. And I agree with you about switching the lands, but I definately won't be able to afford Hallowed Fountain before Gatecrash and maybe not even then! :)

@ lil_cheez Thanks for commenting! Having double strike and lifelink would be really helpful. I'm not sure if the deck could float the 6 mana it takes to cast, though. I'll have to playtest it more.

@ Cadois "Master of Elementals" (My nickname for you, haha!) I definitely agree about putting in Aquatect's Will. I noticed it's a popular choice in Merfolk builds. When I first built this deck, I had in the two Harpoon Sniper , but changed it to the Avian Changeling , because I never seemed to have the mana to activate the ability when I wanted to. I guess my hope was to have the flying in case of emergency. I have been considering Judge of Currents as well as Stonybrook Schoolmaster on the token tip. In the future I might try them out, and if I went in that direction Lullmage Mentor would probably fit right in. Thanks for all the great ideas! :)

@ Jirayamo Yes, I think I'll do that. More for the same price never hurts.

@ Chubbub I thought of Stormtide Leviathan , but I don't know if I'd be able to put him in unless I had a card:Quest for Ula's Temple or some faster mana, in order to put him in I'd end up disrupting the deck a lot I think. Thanks for the suggestion!

@ Cipher001 Thanks for taking a minute to check my deck out. Seeing your deck and Jp3ngu1nb0y's deck gave me the courage to post mine :D Yeah, I have been pestering the clerk at my local card store like every day about getting me some more Master of the Pearl Trident , and I'm going to change my Spreading Seas to card:Aquitect's Will. As far as Purity and Wanderwine Prophets , I'm going to have to playtest. Purity I kind of just threw in randomly because I like the Lorwyn Elemental Incarnations, and I'm hoping he's going to pull his weight.. And you may be right about me trying to have both the Merfolk with the control thing going. I'll have to see when I play with it- unfortunately the OS on my computer right now needs upgraded or I'd just playtest on this site.

@ TrumpetsforKings I'm currently trying to get my hands on some Coralhelm Commander , though when I do it's going to be hard for me to choose who gets to go and who gets to stay! Thanks for the comment. :)

@ Jp3ngu1nb0y Long and confusing name, teehee. If my current build direction of having the Merfolk along with some counter-type spells, my next take would be in the direction of adding tokens with Stonybrook Schoolmaster , Lullmage Mentor , and maybe Judge of Currents and Merrow Commerce . I'm also going to get some Sejiri Merfolk - I completely forgot about them. Thanks for the help, and your MerFucked deck helped inspire me to finally post this.

Derp, I meant if my current build direction doesn't work, in my last comment..

Wow, I loved the nickname you gave me! So I shall call you Mermaid Queen, if you don't mind. But about your answers, I would say that is better add more Master of the Pearl Trident then Coralhelm Commander , you'll already have enough boost for your mermaids, and Coralhelm is not as good as the others, mainly in the early game where you'll spend your mana playing other creatures instead of leveling him.

And well, you may prefer not adding Harpoon Sniper , but Avian Changeling must leave in order to make room for other merfolk cards of your preference. xD

And I wouldn't put big creatures in this deck like Leviathans and etc, instead I still think Wanderwine Prophets is a lot better as attacker... Extra turns shall not be understimated!

But that's all, good luck reigning the seas, Priestess of Waves! (I change the nicknames I give to persons very quickly...)

It would seem you linked to the wrong deck for me. Apparently I'm not the only one to come up with Merfucked. Ah well, mine's better xD

@ Jp3ngu1nb0y I know, I didn't even stick in that capital F it just did that when I hit post for some dumb reason..

January 1, 2013 4:22 a.m.

@ Cadois yeah, the I agree with you about the Coralhelm Commander I could put him in but Master of the Pearl Trident is better. I'm trying to get some just in case the I end up deciding to go all out aggro without the counters. I've also been trying my best to keep the Avian Changeling and Goldenglow Moth in, especially the Moth's- I guess I have a little weak spot for them. They may end up getting the axe in the end... The thought of my poor little moth buddies heading off into the night with their antennae down in sadness for not making the cut just pulls on my heart strings. :/

You must be brave for them. It took me a lot of corage and tears to take off Spore Frog from my green deck... But it's happy and safe in my collection, always watching my victories while we both remember the good old times when just it in play used to prevent my enemies from attacking. :)
