Grabnar Great deck! Really formidable, selesnya is incredibly strong right now. You won 1-2, those damn voice of resurgence lol. I found my deck picked up speed a little faster, but yours was still quick and stabilized easy enough and you were able to handle when my guys got bigger thanks to Selesnya Charm . +1 from me, scary deck.

lol yayy. I wasn't sure my deck could pull it off. I playtested yours and got out two 5/5 precinct captains out super fast. I was thinking unless I had selesnya charm or advent in my starting hand or in early draws I would just lose.

gods willing a creature and name white, gods willing then doesn't work on the creature, after it doesn't work on the creature, the creature doesn't have protection from white. When it doesn't have protection from white gods willing tries to target it again. I found a useless infinite combo!

Grabnar Somehow i managed to have a Selesnya Charm and Voice of Resurgence in opening hand every game lol. That kinda ruined me, without those i think i could have pulled it off. The one game i won Brave the Elements was my savior haha

Slytherclawed: I haven't had to face mono-white at my FNM either, but I do see selesnya hexproof, WBG, and various random control decks with Blood Baron of Vizkopa . There's some sort of rule that if my opponent plays him I will not draw any of the Celestial Flare I sideboard in.

I've been playing a mono white list similar to yours that's more of an enchantment stacker/heroic trigger based list. I've been getting packs though not making top with it at FNM. Curious what you think: Phalanx of the Twenty.

Kind of as an aside, is there a plan for Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx in your deck besides playing out your hand and making cleric tokens? I ended up adding Blessing to my deck because I wanted a 2nd Nykthos outlet that could be a little more of a finisher since I've found that if I don't win early I get sucked into dragging games.

I even drew a match recently at FNM vs mono black because I was making Heliod tokens at the same rate as he was making pack rats and neither of us ever got the cards to get through for critical.

Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx is for just that. It's a more efficent Plains , it's a card that should be played in almost any mono colored deck in standard in my opinion.

deathtouch_roadrunner and also i have seen decks including white, but in those i've always been able to name another color besides white to get protection from.

This deck is similar to my Did Someone Say Enchantments? and I have to ask, what do you think of Blessing ? I had already planned an enchantment deck pre-rotation, and Blessing was my go-to if Theros didn't give me enough nifty enchants, though I've gotten plenty of mileage out of Gift and Chosen that I've never tried Blessing in my build. I feel like it's fantastic with Nykthos.

@Aerokid: I put Blessing in my build (Phalanx of the Twenty). I like it as a closer if you fall a little short in the early game. And it's also a better mana sink both with and without Nykthos than Heliod, God of the Sun most of the time. Trade off is it's easier to remove.

Whoops, I was looking at both decks and I must've grabbed the wrong tab. Thanks deathtouch_roadrunner.

Have you thought about Path of Bravery ? And Archangel of Thune of course if you have the cash for one.

i would second the options above, if not both, then Archangel of Thune if you can get a hold of them.. I would also suggest cutting down the Fabled Hero to two and possibly the Phalanx Leader down to two as well for 3 Fiendslayer Paladin . i personally am not too fond of the ordeals of any color. i would take them out for one more Gift of Orzhova . that would leave three more spaces. consider 2 Celestial Archon and one more Precinct Captain .

+1

Bestow cost of Celestial Archon is too high, the whole point of a deck like this is being FAST. REALLY fast and not needing mana to win.

DSHoyt don't forget that the user is also running Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx which can greatly speed it up. even without the bestow cast, a 4/4 with flying and first strike is well worth a casting cost of 5.

I would suggest running a second shrine if you can.

I agree with rocknj06, except for Celestial Archon .. that card is almost unplayable for 7 mana especially in this deck. If he were to add Fiendslayer Paladin , I get that it goes good with Archangel of Thune , but Ajani, Caller of the Pride would just be better in this deck.

I understand he has the Shrines, but what if he doesn't pull them?? Personally I think the Celestial Archon would slow the deck down.

coughs budget deck. Can't afford Archangel of Thune , and fiendslayer is 7 dollar card also. I rather love the ordeals actually so ill keep them

November 19, 2013 9:48 p.m.

Grabnar says... #22

and you already have ajani... -_-

your deck inspire me to make this The aggressive wrath of red I felt that Dragon Mantle was similar to Blessing and they would be a crazy match up.

Rocknj06 says... #23

i still stand by my suggestion for Celestial Archon but that may just be me.

Grabnar i agree that Ajani, Caller of the Pride is amazing in this deck, which is why i didn't suggest to take it out. my main reason for suggesting the archon is as an alternative to Archangel of Thune because of the cost to acquire them. if the angel can be obtained, then forget that i've mentioned the archon.

Dalektable says... #24

Eventually i'll probably make a slot for archangel in the deck once i have the money

I've played against 2 different weenie decks using red/white and Dragon Mantle . Typically, I win. Not always, but enough to make me happy.
