The premise of the deck is to get out infinite 1/1 elf tokens and use them (and other cards that make use of them) to overwhelm your opponent. Devoted Druid plus presence of gond makes the tokens and ivy lane Denizen makes certain devoted Druid doesn't die from taking those -1/-1 counters. Several of the lands help you cycle to what you need for the combo, wirewood Herald let's you search for an elf card upon his death and elvish Skysweeper and Metamorphosis both give you options for killing him yourself if your opponent won't do so for you. Elvish branch-bender, elvish vangard, and essence Warden are in the deck primarily to deal with any "kill all 1/1" cards that could pop up. Avoid fate is in the deck to protect the enchantment and shielding Plax is there to protect the elfs needed for the combo.
