maybe drop Wrench Mind from SB for liliana's specter? They both cause hand interruption, may bring out a counterspell, and specter is a swinging body as well if he does hit the field.

Sam_I_am Y would u use Liliana's Specter when A) Liliana of the Veil already occupies that spot and B) Oona's Prowler and Sword of Feast and Famine r a thing. Besides this is a Rock deck not 8RACK.
8vomit u can easily fit in 2x Treetop Village (card kicks ass) but u'll probably want 4. U r already heavy on Urborgs so I would add some Twilight Mire to balance out the Treetop Village s
February 21, 2014 11:38 a.m.
oh yeah I forgot about prowler. I think I would only want 2x treetop village, unless I went up to 3x Urborg tomb. And what lands do you think would be the best to cut? I really want to have that basic forest in here, bc Blood Moon is definitely a thing.
February 21, 2014 11:48 a.m.
@apple01DOJ nether Sword of Feast and Famine nor Oona's Prowler make your opponent discard on ETB, and neither of them get you a 2-for-1 when your opponent uses removal on them.

Gatekeeper of Malakir
is also a good card. It makes your opponent sacrifice a creature, and you're left with a beater.

Drop the 3rd Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth for Twilight Mire .
I love Urborg but 3 of them is too much potential for a dead draw.
February 21, 2014 12:15 p.m.
I dont think 1x twilight mire is a smart move, that wont really help my mana fixing much if I draw it once every few games.

well the thing is that Twilight Mire helps when it comes to activating Treetop Village something that Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth can't do.
I don't imagine u have much trouble with mana fixing because 7 fetches should be doing the job so that is y I only suggested 1. There is not much drawback to running more than 1 because it rarely ends up being colorless mana but 2 in ur opening hand and no other lands would be a mulligan to me.

You underestimate the speed and resiliency of Zoo. They don't just pump out 1-drop 3/3s and 2/3s with no protection.

But my point still stands: 4 Thoughtseize is 1 too many. Even Jund doesn't run 4--it runs 3 and 3.

Have u checked out the current top Rock lists?
http://www.mtgtop8.com/event?e=6698&d=238491
They're all running 4x Obliterator 4x Treetop Village 4x Twilight Mire.
Looks like our decks were ahead of their time running Obliterator in a Rock shell!

Why is Night's Whisper more expensive than Sign in Blood ?
Just curious, as it appears Sign in Blood is better, since you can make your opponent lose two life if you wished, although the double black cost is trickier, usually it's only run in mono black? Unless I am mistaken haha.
I will say I am very new to modern, and I haven't played a modern game competitively yet.
March 4, 2014 9:53 a.m.
Magiclover318 Sign in Blood has been printed 7 times, Night's Whisper only once
i think it is also more expensive because it is more splashable in other decks, where sign in blood must be in a black heavy deck.
March 4, 2014 10 a.m.
oh actually night's whisper is in the new duel decks, so thats 2 printings.

Considered Courser of Kruphix in place of Finks?
Plays nice with fetches, adds the potential to generate card advantage, adds a little life like Finks but survives Anger of the Gods unlike Finks.

If your goal as a Rock deck is to grind down your opponents resources, then Courser lets you dig and get lands off the top while gaining you a little life. It falls under the same sort of "incremental" reasoning that you think of when you play ScOoze. It also blocks for days if you expect to see a good amount of aggro decks. Finks is a great card no doubt, but I think for you and what you're trying to do Courser might be they way to go.
In that vein of thought, since you mainboard Surgical Extraction , would you be willing to cut a ScOoze and do a split of 3x ScOoze 3x Courser?
March 28, 2014 11:22 a.m.
I will do some play testing with courser. He definitely provides a lot of deck thinning. I would need to cut finks for courser to keep my average CMC down.

the usefulness of Liliana's Specter is a bit more difficult to observe than V-Hawk.
It does half of it's job when it makes them discard a card, and when you're using Thoughtseize and Inquisition of Kozilek in the early turns, the cards they have left become all the more precious.
They might have a dead card, but normally all of their cards are not dead. that Lightning Bolt or land, or Kitchen Finks or Spellsnare or what have you is no longer usable, and you still have a 2 power flyer to attack with or trade with one of their attackers.
Vampire Nighthawk is good, and he is definitely better in combat, but he doesn't have the same 2-for-1 potential, and he's not as good against control decks.
If they end up using a removal spell on it, you've ended up using 1 card to deal with their 2.
