What about Dissipation Field ?

I would swap a Plains for an Island , otherwise your mana base (and the deck) look really good. +1 from me!

I was just about to say that that could be a really good addition after the lock, but the problem is the opponent would just be able to cast their creatures again on their second main phase.

Which is why I'm thinking I should add the vapor snags, which would give me 8 spells (with Paths) to remove creatures after the lock. Might even add Dismember s if I need to.

Alternatively if I could use a permanent to get rid of creatures repeatedly that would be the best option. Aether Spellbomb might be a good choice.

Maybe Echoing Truth would be better than Dismember , since it can deal with Lingering Souls after they've been discarded.

Main or side, I think Ghostly Prison would be a good way to stay safe from tokens/twin/most aggro

Not sure why I didn't think of Echoing Truth. Thanks for reminding me.

And I can definitely see Ghostly Prison being a good sideboard card, possibly an auto-include. I'll see once I determine the weaknesses of the deck.

Speaking of sideboard, I think I should get started on determining what I should put in it.

Tormod's Crypt (or maybe Relic of Progenitus ) is definitely an auto-include given the discard I run can potentially help grave power decks. Currently have 4 in the sideboard, though I probably don't need THAT many.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

I like Relic of Progenitus because the cantrip means you'll never be a card short.

Well gotta remember the cantrip won't be TOO useful. However, unlike Tormod's Crypt, Relic is repeatable. If I pop the Crypt too early something that I want to get rid of later might be put in.

So yeah I guess relic would be preferrable.

Leyline of Sanctity for the sideboard?

Pithing Needle is pretty standard side-tech as a cure-all of sorts (Panacea Needle, they should call it). Maybe Runed Halo or Nevermore instead, depending on preference mostly.

I think Silence would be a good sideboard edition here, too. Classic interaction of stopping Cascade spells, as well as closing down aggro in the early turns and combo when you know they're going to try and go off. Should help buy time to reach your lock.

I like all of those suggestions aside from Runed Halo I think.

It's weird that I didn't already have Pithing Needle in, I always have it in my sideboards.

I just +1 for spirits.

I think you should remove all of the Tectonic Edge s because they aren't doing anything for you except holding you back. Instead, you should add some scry lands. I know that they are slower but they give you a great card advantage and they keep your mana base not awkward (you know, not having the situation with 2 Tectonic Edge s and a tapped Celestial Colonnade ). Plus you have this labelled as an aggro deck when most of your creatures are three drops, if anything it's midrange.

wait wait wait am I reading The Rack wrong becuase it sounds like it would do no damage since they have no hand... other than my confusion with the card +1 awesome deck

Quail says... #17

The Rack is notoriously known for having a confusing ability.

Basically it works like this:

0 cards in hand - 3 damage

1 card in hand - 2 damage

2 cards in hand - 1 damage

3 or more cards in hand - 0 damage

Hope that clears stuff up. Thanks for the +1 too man.

While I see how it can protect my creatures, and allow me to make a bit more use of the Cliques and Snapcasters, it doesn't provide any actual control by itself, it's entirely reliant on me having the right creatures out.

Good card, but I only need to exploit ETB effects so much in the deck. Especially with Snapcasters where I need targets in my graveyard and additionally still need to pay for them.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

I hate you- My Turbo Fog Deck. Because of all the interaction this deck seems like its play-style would vary depending on the opposition your facing. I'd think about adding in Gitaxian Probe . It gives you a very useful draw and lets you know how you should play your deck.

Peek would me much better, and I wouldn't even run that.

Gitaxian Probe is practically unplayable in this deck.

I really like the core of what you have going on here. But I don't understand how Teferi's Puzzle Box works with your deck. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the trigger happens before you draw as part of the normal draw step, and because you can't draw more than once with Spirit of the Labyrinth out, each player ends up with one card in hand each turn, rihgt? Then play resumes as normal, proceeding to mainphase.

So you soft lock them to one card, but you do the same to yourself. So now it's like we're playing the classic playing card game, "war"--whoever topdecks better wins the game. And I'd say the odds of us winning that war aren't high. We'd straight up die to Affinity and Zoo without putting up any sort of fight. Even if we have a Rack out, the damage they will have done to us in the first 4 turns will ensure they win the race anyhow.

Personally, I'd scratch the puzzle boxes and go with some AEther Vials instead, because they accelerate you and allow you to play out any of your creatures uncounterable at instant speed. And I'd add a 4th Archivist for consistency.

P.S. If you're thinking about splashing black, Lingering Souls would be an exceptional sideboard card that is both a win condition and a way to deal with aggro decks.
