Rebuild —July 14, 2013
I'm thinking about doing a small rebuild on this deck. Its been playing fine and I'll get more testing out of it soon but I want to see if I can utilize my mana every single turn and possibly work in Exploration to play lands every turn. Some cards I want to add is Sign in Blood, Ambition's Cost, Pernicious Deed, Krosan Grip, and a couple others. Hopefully I can turn this into a B/G control deck so I can keep everyone locked down until can combo off. Any suggestions are welcome

You could drop Search for Tomorrow and add Ancient Craving .

Epochalyptik That could be a good idea. I'll need to look for one. Up for some testing?

I'm free after 5 all week. Drafting MM tomorrow. Friday I'm off at 11am so anytime after that.

I would add Wound Reflection double the damage done by jarad

Wound Reflection isn't ideal for a combo-based deck because it's just unnecessary. It's also kind of slow.

Epoch is right, Wound Reflection is too slow and expensive. When my combo goes off, I win the game, hands down. There wouldn't be any reason to have to cast Wound Reflection . I used to have Rings of Brighthearth to also double the damage from Jarad, but that was even too slow.

Those cards aren't actually ideal in this deck. Sure I can Natural Order for Lord of Extinction but that is the only thing for value. Being restricted to green creatures is bad. Also Tooth and Nail is not ideal in this deck since I can't make infinite mana from casting it. It would be 9 mana to go get 2 creatures (hopefully my win conditions) but then I would have to cast my general and still have mana to activate his sac. ability.

Howdy! I've been looking at your deck for other ideas for my own Jarad EDH deck and I happen to like your updates and feedback on what has been happened. Anyway, I wanted to share with you some combos that I've been using. I'll tell you why I have those cards in the deck:
Call of the Wild + Haunted Crossroads(These two cards can be fun, but troublesome annoying and mean to other players if you have Kokusho and Jarad in play. Like I said, very mean, but something to think about.)
Gutter Grime + Phyrexian Altar + Reassembling Skeleton(1. Sac skeleton to the altar for black, an ooze token EtB and Gutter Grime gets a counter.2. Sac the token for black, now you have 1 black mana.3. Pay 2 black to bring back the skeleton into play tapped.4. Repeat the process!
This will get you an inf/inf ooze token in the battlefield and use Jarad to sac the ooze for how much need to defeat your opponents)
Grave Pact + Necrogenesis + Ashnod's Altar(Sac a creature for the Ashnod's altar to produce 2 mana; each opponent sacs a creature because of Grave Pact; pay the 2 mana to remove a creature from the grave from the game and produce a token into play. Repeat the process!
I figured if you want to get rid of creatures that are killing you in the game, you can simply get rid of them by exile in the grave.)
Like I said, something to think about if you're interested and friendly advise as you gave it to us in your deck. Thanks and good luck to you and the deck.

Thank you very much for the suggestions! Sadly, most of these are too slow for the kind of people I play against. The Call of the Wild combo is pretty sweet for sneaking big creatures in, but I would have to have Jarad on board and protected to make good use of the combo. Gravepact would not be very useful outside of the combo since I don't play very many creatures in the deck. The other combo, making the huge ooze, is pretty sweet but 3 pieces are typically hard to assemble and keep on board.

if you need more card draw for cheap $$, what about Sign in Blood and Night's Whisper ?

oh and what about Cabal Coffers ? Yea you have only 9 swamps but when Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth hits... makes it seem like a good idea.

If I could consistently get both Urborg and Coffers out I would run that combo. Right now I use crop rotation to go find Urborg or Reliquary tower. I used to run Sign in Blood and it never did too much for me. I'll probably throw it back in the list to see what I can do with it. Thanks for the suggestions!

You could also go for Expedition Map to search for lands.

Well this is surprising, in the past few games I've played I found out there is actually too much ramp in this deck. I'm not able to move towards my combo as quickly as I would hope because I end up drawing too many ramp spells. What to do now...
