Cool deck +1! I have a few cards I would recommend but rather than list them all here you can just take a look at my Jarad deck and see what I use. Husky Wusky. I tried to not make it a reanimator because my main commander deck, judge dredge, is a reanimator... not sure why the judge dredge link isn't working but whatev.

May I ask the purpose of Phyrexian Dreadnought ? If the only purpose is to sac it to jarad, it is probably too clunky, as 12 life will rarely kill. The other thing is, I wonder how difficult it would be to get the creature count to 40ish. That would allow you to basically insta kill with either Hermit Druid or Morality Shift . Probably too big of a change though.

Phyrexian Dreadnought can easily be brought back to the field and sacrificed repeatedly to Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord . I've won games with Phyrexian Dreadnought before, especially in multiplayer where life totals will go down pretty quickly.

Why would I want to have the creature count at 40? Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord cannot sacrifice himself, only other creatures. Keep in mind this deck needs to be insanely quick to keep up with the people I test with. The 7 mana for Morality Shift would be too expensive anyway.

Those looking to offer advice need to consider the demands of a competitive environment. In my 1v1 testing of Dominus - Dreamcrusher Edition against this deck, turn three Damia is a very real and very consistent reality. This list needs to bring some serious ramp and response capability to the table. I've noticed that card advantage is one of the major problems for this deck. The ramp in this deck is almost equal to that in mine (I have the advantage of a virtually limitless budget, so I play cards like Mana Crypt ), but the issue of draw power is lopsidedly in my favor.

I do think that cutting some of the more expensive cards (e.g. Decree of Pain ) will help you in the long run. Although many of them are powerful, they sometimes fail to justify their mana costs. High-CMC cards will be dead in the early game, and that is an extreme disadvantage in fast-paced, competitive matchups.

Whoops, completely missed that wording. Ignore that entire part of the comment. Also, how is Solemn Simulacrum for you? Seems slow for a Rampant Growth effect, and the upsides seem minimal. The damage means very little, and draw seems unnecessary considering that you'd have to spend 1bg just to use it. The total of 4b extra you have to use to make it better in any way than Rampant Growth seems bad, unless your planning on recurring it numerous times.

Once you've filled out your set of fetches, Snuff Out should probably replace Slaughter Pact , as it is much better if you can guarantee a swamp.

I pulled out Solemn Simulacrum and added Birds of Paradise in its place. That should reduce the average mana cost since Decree of Pain was also taken out. I could definitely use a Snuff Out .

In terms of card draw, this deck is seriously lacking. I would love to find a way to draw more cards outside of Necropotence . I was going to test the Bloodghast Skullclamp combo over the upcoming week.

I have always found Skeletal Scrying a great way to get draw. Also, your curve is practically low enough that you could run Dark Confidant /Dark Tutelage /Ad Nauseam , though you would probably have to nerf kokusho and a number of cards in the 4-5 cmc slot. It would probably be worth it though.

May 23, 2013 9:28 p.m.

I feel as if the Bob and similar effects would kill me too quickly. An additional card a turn is great but flipping Kokusho, the Evening Star off of that trigger would feel real bad. Losing the 4, 5, or 6 life from those triggers would be detrimental especially when I try to dig for Necropotence and dump my life for cards. Losing 8 life from Sylvan Library to keep the 2 extra cards wouldn't be too bad.

Skeletal Scrying on the other hand could be good. I don't like having the cards from my graveyard removed but that would need some testing. I do run cards like Yawgmoth's Will and multiple Regrowth effects in order to play from my graveyard. I would certainly like to test it in the upcoming weeks though.

ad nauseum would be a no since the curve is still high enough I could kill myself by flipping only a few cards.

Deathrite Shaman could be useful if you're constantly playing against fetches. My deck runs 9, and most competitive decks with more than one or two colors will have at least three. Deathrite Shaman 's other two abilities are also relevant.

Diabolic Intent should be in this deck as well.

May 23, 2013 11:07 p.m.

Diabolic Intent is certainly a must add. More tutors the better.

that being said, I will be getting a Chord of Calling within the week. What should swapped out for chord? Chord of Calling would be a great card for this deck since I can instant speed search for Phyrexian Devourer on end step and win on my turn.

May 23, 2013 11:19 p.m.

Acidic Slime doesn't seem strictly necessary. It's a nice creature for Birthing Pod , and it has a relevant ability, but its mana cost works against it.

May 23, 2013 11:58 p.m.

Epochalyptik it is a great target for Birthing Pod and the mana cost is steep but I feel as if it is worth it. I may pull it out for the Bloodghast + Skullclamp combo but I'm not sure. I'm going to test that once I get the Bloodghast and see how it works out. I guess I do have enough to deal with artifacts and enchantments between Beast Within and Maelstrom Pulse .

once you put a few cards in the grave, Far Wanderings could give you the last bit of mana you need for the combo

May 28, 2013 12:13 a.m.

@Rewdog I've never been a real fan of Far Wanderings since most people see it only for the threshold effect. The threshold effect would become relevant for me only in the late game and at that point, I should have enough mana from my early turn ramp that its just a waste. Also, when I draw it before I have threshold, a 3 mana Rampant Growth is not very good.

Hey! I really liked your deck i've been following Dominus - Dreamcrusher Edition since a while ,and i'm thinking to change my general to Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord during multiplayers games , i usually play Varolz, the Scar-Striped in Avale could take a look at it , definitely drawing is a problem in those colors i'm looking for better drawers ,anyway thanks !

June 8, 2013 7:55 p.m.

@switch if you don't play varolz as a voltron general, then switching to Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord might be a better way to win by nuking multiple opponents. This deck has some of the best, cheaper draw power you can find in Black/Green so anything in here could work in your deck.

June 9, 2013 10:29 p.m.

Well this is surprising, in the past few games I've played I found out there is actually too much ramp in this deck. I'm not able to move towards my combo as quickly as I would hope because I end up drawing too many ramp spells. What to do now...

June 17, 2013 12:23 p.m.

You could drop Search for Tomorrow and add Ancient Craving .

June 17, 2013 1:56 p.m.

Epochalyptik That could be a good idea. I'll need to look for one. Up for some testing?

June 17, 2013 2:31 p.m.

Possibly. When?

June 17, 2013 2:37 p.m.

I'm free after 5 all week. Drafting MM tomorrow. Friday I'm off at 11am so anytime after that.

I would add Wound Reflection double the damage done by jarad

June 20, 2013 1:29 a.m.

Wound Reflection isn't ideal for a combo-based deck because it's just unnecessary. It's also kind of slow.

June 20, 2013 2:05 a.m.

Epoch is right, Wound Reflection is too slow and expensive. When my combo goes off, I win the game, hands down. There wouldn't be any reason to have to cast Wound Reflection . I used to have Rings of Brighthearth to also double the damage from Jarad, but that was even too slow.
