Nigrescence I can never seem to get the land right in 3 colour decks. Realmwright helps me with that. Plus I was trying to find some decent 1 drop creatures for this deck.

i cant help but feel like izzet staticaster should be in here some where.
i love the list, the synergy in double strike and cypher is kind of unsettling and im surprised i missed it for so long.

I would use Fabled Hero over the Fencing ace to be honest, you might have to change your mana just a bit but with hero you get a heroic proc which procs every time Hidden strings gets cast on it.

I agree with bringing in Fabled Hero to abuse the ability Hidden Strings has to proc heroic if it targets Fabled Hero . You wouldn't have to remove the Fencing Ace's to slow down your combo, but I would pull a Guttersnipe and/or Young Pyromancer since your win con is the double strike and they're only there to buy time until it ramps up.

I liked this deck so much I'm built one too! Even though I haven't playtested it, I see the biggest weakness being removal spells. Your Fencing Ace is going to be very vulnerable to removal spells so I recommend putting in Negate , Dispel or Syncopate for cheap spell removal. I'd also recommend or Disperse . The Retraction Helix would go on your Young Pyromancer or Guttersnipe since they're just chilling on the board anyways. And again, all of your creatures are protected by removal from the aforementioned counter spells. Not sure where you'd make room for them all, but again, I'd reduce your Guttersnipe and Young Pyromancer counts and maybe pull the Shock and a Boros Charm .
Can't wait to test the deck out!

id say mizzium skin largely over shadows any other protection spells possible, with the exclusion of boros charm and possibly rootborn defenses.given the mana problem u said you where having, rootborn defense might be your best bet until you go against mono black.

Ooh, I like Mizzium Skin ! Hadn't thought of that. I'm also going to try Dismiss into Dream so when they get tapped they are sacrificed!
March 1, 2014 9:14 a.m.
dawnsfist I just realized Mizzium Skin doesn't protect against sacrifice and non-targeting board wipes. I think Syncopate or Negate are still better options.

well that's why id say rootborn defense over mizzium skin for board wipes. it also gives you extra elemental tokens and since white is the primary colour its easy to play.

@ MrEM4N
Thanks for your feedback and I'm glad you like the idea! I think I agree with the lack of protection for my creatures, at the moment I'm only relying on a Boros Charm for that. I'm thinking of adding in some Negate for that problem. I don't really like Dismiss into Dream only because of it's mana cost, way too high for this deck.
@ Trekario
Thanks for the idea, I hadn't even thought of Fabled Hero as a target for my cipher spells, I was wishing I could go modern for Viashino Slaughtermaster . I'll try to find some room for him.
I want to take the Realmwright out but I really need help fixing this mana base.

Aqueous Form lasts indefinitely, granting unblockable and the scry 1 actually helps a lot, where as, Crypsis , not only costs 1 more however is a one use instant.
March 14, 2014 12:57 a.m.
i like the idea id put in a few unblock able/flying creatures to help hit the ciphers and with all the tapping you do you may want to look into some of the inspired cards from born of gods

This looks pretty decent. I like the rebound interaction with Guttersnipe. You might want to think about Remand again. It can be useful for that little bit of reach to finish the game (You can Lava Spike, then Remand your own Lava Spike then cast it again, doing 9 damage and drawing a card for a cost of ).
I also like Counterflux as a counterspell in UR decks, because it works well in control mirrors.
Gitaxian Probe is pretty decent in Guttersnipe decks, you can cast it for 2 life to do 2 damage to your opponent without having to spend mana.

@ KnightFire - I hadn't really even considered the possibility of countering my own spell to my advantage before. It's brilliant. I suppose it's a similar idea to using a Vapor Snag on my Snapcaster Mage for additional value. I'll try out!
As for Counterflux, I don't really see the value in it. I don't quite understand how the overload is useful unless there's a huge stack. If you could explain it to me that'd be awesome. Most of the time I feel like a Mana Leak or Remand would do.
My only issue with Gitaxian Probe is what it offers by itself. Sure looking at the opponent's hand is useful and it does replace itself, hence filtering through the deck, however I feel like Distortion Strike or Vapor Snag offer more value, especially in this slightly more aggro build.

Counterflux is primarily a hoser for storm variants, since normal counterspells don't prevent the storm trigger from going off and creating all the spell copies. It's also useful because it can't be countered itself, which is really good in a control mirror and pretty pointless in any other matchup. My impression is that Counterflux is a good sideboard card to run 1-2 of against control and storm, but 3-4 mana makes it pretty expensive for a maindeck counterspell when there are plenty of 1 or 2 mana options in modern.

why Mana Confluence? if you really need the extra colored mana you could play Shivan Reef as its just better for your deck, assuming you have no need for other colors
January 23, 2016 10:52 p.m.
adamthetiger Very true. Back when this deck was running white as well I played Mana Confluence for consistency in fixing mana. Shivan Reef looks a lot better now. Thanks!

What does Realmwright do here, other than being a badass on his own merit?
