I enjoy sylvan library and draw always helps. I actually got an As Foretold and so far it does funny things. I'm liking it. As for Nissa she is next on the chopping block, so you are correct.

Yeah i just ordered one for my next playnight. If nothing else i feel its a much better Omniscience in this deck. If Atraxa cant break it no deck can and even if my opponents remove it they might not have more removal for my DS or my Humility etc.

This thread helped me tons in cutting cards i would have never considered cutting like Oath of Nissa or Contagion Engine.

What about ramp spells? Thinking about adding a Burgeoning or a Natures Lore to my list: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/atraxa-walker-control-1/

Your deck would benefit from both honestly. You have enough basics to use basic ramp and Nature's Lore can grab forest duals as well.

Oath of Nissa rarely helped in my deck due to the nearly perfect mana base. Contagion Engine is just too slow for the kind of deck I have and meta.

Yeah its just that i dont like the secondary effect of Nissas oath and i think other than Abur duals my manabase is fairly good.

Usually i didnt draw it and never had a problem with casting Walkers.

Yeah i felt the same 10 mana is just too much i can probably just win the game for that much mana or tutor for it :D

I think Natures Lore is enough with stuff like Mana Crypt and other pseudo ramp.

I might pick up a Mox Diamond in the future.

I rather play Chain Veil for fun reasons eventho it might be winmore like you said.

Im super hyped for As Foretold!

Btw ive seen someone run Mentor of Heroes, Aether flux combo in the deck.

What do you think about that? Too cute? its basically only one card to add that also life gains (Aetherflux) to just win the game and Ajani isnt a bad card in the deck if definitely not the best walker in the deck.

I think it's a bit cute but hey if it works it works

Yeah idk about i might try it out :D

Has Academy Rector performed for you?

I just play tested my superfriends deck yesterday after switching out a few cards. Astral cornucopia was pulled, so was Brago and something else... ended up adding in two more walkers Vraska the Unseen and Garruk Relentless  Flip as well as Rune-Scarred Demon and ended up dominating several decks one on one.

The issue I had was that I had too much colorless mana, so I'm gonna take out Mana Vault, Reliquary Tower, and Temple of the False God. Will probably try out the Oath of Nissa instead of mana vault and try to fit a few more fetches in the place of the other two. Very frustrating to keep top decking walkers and not have the colored mana to cast them.

HighOnBuffs Academy Rector is normally great for value but Humility makes it a nonbo. I'm debating on replacing it.

Forceofnature1 I agree on the colorless cuts, I did some trimming back a few months ago as well. Rune-Scarred Demon has always been an alluring option but I try to keep as few creatures as possible.

I picked up a copy of As Foretold in a trade from a friend. If I can get some games in I will try to share how it does.

Guess what though? This friend of mine from buying an Amonkhet bundle (10 booster packs) opened an Invocation Force of Will and invocation Wrath of God!

Have you considered Idyllic Tutor as a replacement for Academy Rector?

How does the deck normally win? Through emblems and op's scoop?

April 29, 2017 8:16 a.m.

HighOnBuffs says... #12

So after playing with Academy Rector i wouldnt replace it again ever.

Its too good tutor + superblocker + manacheat in one card. Works also great with a blow up the world spell.

I would rather replace some Walkers that are lakuster like the 3 mana Nissa or something.

I like focusing the deck more on enchantments because even if they remove a humility etc i can slam my DS.

Also it feels wierd but The Chain Veil never did all too much for me.

I think its even only good with 3+ Walkers on the field so i will probably switch it out for either a Torpor Orb/Curse Totem or Necropotence (eventho i feel like i have enough draw for a non combo deck already.

Another idea i had was stuff like Time Warp.

What do you think about such effects?

May 1, 2017 9:31 a.m.

I like Time Walk effects, Walkers like them, Play groups don't so it's up to you.

May 1, 2017 10:12 a.m.

HighOnBuffs says... #15

Nice i will add at least one then i think.

Btw why dont you play stuff like Mox Diamond?

Also isnt Coalition Relic strictly better than Gilded Lotus in an Atraxa deck?

May 1, 2017 6:07 p.m.

kestral287 says... #16

Relic vs Lotus isn't super clear cut. Relic is only getting double value when Atraxa is on the table, at which point it's 2/3rds Lotus. Without Atraxa it's just a Manalith most of the time, which isn't bad but isn't great either. Lotus always gives you 3 and pushes you up to the big-mana range to start double spelling easily

May 1, 2017 6:14 p.m.

Pretty Much

May 1, 2017 6:33 p.m.

HighOnBuffs says... #18

In my understanding of the card and how i alsways played it Coalition Relic is 2 mana, each of your choice of color for 3 with atraxa out its 3 mana of your choice for 3 CmC.

Gilded is only 3 mana of ONE color for 5 CmC.

At least thats how i understood it.

Again why no Mox Diamond? No need?

May 1, 2017 7:06 p.m.

kestral287 says... #19

So for Relic, if you tap to put a charge counter on it, then proliferate, then on your next turn you get two mana of any combination of colors. You can choose to tap Relic for another mana, which would let it equal Lotus on that turn.

However, using it in that way gives you a Lotus every /other/ turn, unless you can untap the Relic. Because on the turn after that, you untap, move to main phase, your Relic has no charge counters on it, so now it taps for one mana each turn or you take a turn 'off' to get the charge counter back onto it for you to proliferate.

So, for maximum mana efficiency over the curve, you get two mana/turn from Relic. And three from Lotus.

May 1, 2017 7:15 p.m.

HighOnBuffs says... #20

Yeah but Lotus costs almost double as much and has only one color to choose.

May 1, 2017 7:19 p.m.

HighOnBuffs says... #21

Other than that i think its a good card but im running Astral Cornucopia instead in that slot.

Do you guys think Lotus is better than AC?

May 1, 2017 7:51 p.m.

HighOnBuffs says... #22

I probably will switch out AC for Lotus.

Another idea i had was adding infinite mana combos like isochrone scepter/dramatic Reversal or Grim Monolith/Power Artifact to turn rings + Walker that can shoot into win the game combos. I one quiet a few games that way even with only Mana Reflection and/or Miraris Wake in play. Might be much too cute tho :P

Also what do you guys think about Bitterblossom? Looks like its a neat protection against Walkers but i dont really see it played often. (Might not mean much bc 90% of people build Atraxa Superfriends completely wrong)

May 2, 2017 12:02 p.m.

kestral287 says... #23

I'm not a fan of running infinites that go outside your basic line of play; your deck just won't be great at pulling them off. If you want an infinite mana combo I'd go with the Tezz infinite mana/walker activations one, since that should just win the game immediately.

Bitterblossom is super medium. If you're moving to the point that you want creatures to protect your walkers you have much better options than that. It's not terrible, but it's not great either. It blocks one attack but if you're letting creatures live, there are 3+ that are attacking you each turn cycle.

May 2, 2017 6:40 p.m.

HighOnBuffs says... #24

Makes perfect sense ty for giving your insight!

How do you think Necropotence would work in the deck?

And how exactly does the Tezz infinite work? Just Gilded Lotus + Rings right?

May 2, 2017 10:21 p.m.

kestral287 says... #25

Chain Veil + Tezz + an artifact that taps for 4 (the Geoscope from C16 or pushing up a Cornucopia/Chalice is the easy way here) is infinite planswalker activations. Get your artifact to 5 and it's also infinite mana.
