man... i think Mana drain is to powerful and too expensive to be given an invocation.

Force of Will is 100% getting an invocation in HoD. They literally had a man chant "Force of Will" in the Amonkhet trailer.

They've already spoiled it and it look ridiculous with that stupid bird god on it.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong but if you have both of the Tamiyo emblems out you can have some stupid combos like infinite Demonic Tutor and just tutor out whatever you need to win correct?

If you ultimate a decent planeswalker, victory is only a short while away

DJNotNice19 you are correct. My favorite card with both those emblems is Vindicate

Any draw/tutor spell is undoubtedly the best option off the double emblem. Short of those I love Primal Command; cast every creature in your deck, strip everyone of lands and graveyards, go to infinite life, and control their topdecks forever. Winning from there is free; worst-case you just Atraxa Beats for the win but realistically everyone is going to scoop.

Beautiful build of Atraxa, definitely one of the best I've seen. I might be asking you for advice once my precon arrives if you don't mind.

Couple of questions since I've reviewed your deck:

I noticed that you have very little mana rocks like signets and basic land search cards.. have you tried them and found them to be lacking? I know your curve tops out at 4/5 Mana.

What's your plan concerning land destruction spells and the aftermath of using them? I noticed there's no Crucible, so I'm wondering.

Do you believe that Alhammarret's Archive would be beneficial for your build just for the planeswalker's ult as a draw engine?

Thanks for your time,

ZombieCat

Planeswalker decks are weird in that ramp is less to get them to their spells and more to get them double-spelling. Some low-impact ramp stuff like Farseek is fine, but you often want high-impact ramp cards like Mirari's Wake in order to cross that hurdle from 5 to 10 mana.

After MLD, most walker decks just... ult a walker. Plop down a Field Researcher and an Armageddon, then shrug because now they can't stop you from ulting your Tamiyo and then you just win. About half the walkers in this list have game-ending ultimates, and a couple more, like Freyalise, will take over from an empty board.

Archive doesn't do as much as you would think. Planeswalkers tend to draw cards in nontraditional ways, see Teferi and Narset as primary examples. Among the ultimates, only four of the ones in this list (Freyalise, Nissa VF, Nissa VoZ, and Field Researcher) actively draw cards. Nissa VF's card draw is slow, Freyalise is going to be used as removal often enough that ulting her isn't super likely, and Field Researcher wins the game when she ults anyway, so realistically you're playing to Nissa VoZ's ult with Archive. That's... pretty medium.

So I see Sandwurm Convergence has ended up being added, I will say that card is pretty decent after being the victim of that card at prereleases. My opponent played it and even though I tried to stall with embalm creatures and other tokens from myDrake Haven and a bit of life gain in 4-5 turns I was dead.

I opened a Nissa, Steward of Elements which I may give a try in my Atraxa deck however I'm still not fully sure, and I will probably add a Sandwurm Convergence to mine as well. I was hoping more so for a Gideon and or As Foretold though, but no luck yet from my 27 total Amonkhet packs.

kestral287 pretty much answered the question exactly as I would. Basic ramp is just too limited, especially with the kind of mana base this deck has.

In my meta its mainly this deck using the MLD and as Kestral said I would ult a Tamiyo or two beforehand.

Archive doesn't do enough for its cost.

Quick question: why did you cut the classic Atraxa mana like Astral Cornucopia and Everflowing Chalice?

April 24, 2017 12:25 a.m.

Everflowing chalice is colorless and gets targeted. Astral gets blown up on principle

What are your thoughts on Pyramid of the Pantheon? I ran it in a 3-color sealed deck and I rolled.

April 24, 2017 10:54 a.m.

chosenone124 says... #18

That seems to be even slower than Astral Cornucopia.

Pyramid: Turn 1: 3 mana to play and activate, generates one rainbow mana. Proliferate.

2: 2 mana to activate, generates 1 mana. 3 counters (Proliferate if you want)

3-: We have a Gilded Lotus

Astral Cornucopia: 3 mana to play, generates 1 rainbow mana. Proliferate.

2: Generates 2 mana. Proliferate

3-: A Gilded Lotus that never stops growing

April 24, 2017 2:22 p.m. Edited.

ThoAlmighty says... #19

I was thinking it would be a supplement to Astral Cornucopia. AC is definitely better but Pyramid is still quite good.

What do you think about Deploy the Gatewatch? :D

Your planeswalkers have high mana costs so it seems like a good card to run. Not sure what to cut, so... maybeboard?

April 26, 2017 7:02 a.m.

This has already been addressed. Deploy has too high a mana cost and chance to whiff to be of use.

Hi love your deck just a couple questions regarding walkers:Is Freyalise doing work for you? How good is Karn in the deck? Why no Mindsculptor? And how good are the double Gideons or is this just testing?

April 26, 2017 5:39 p.m.

Freyalise is doing work for me, I've enjoyed the walker so far. Karn is removal first and a secondary win con so he is amazing. Pulled the Big daddy Jace a few months ago and left an update but he's basically a brainstorm and nothing else in my experience. And Gideons are being tested

Thanks a lot for the fast answers!

Yeah i figured. I already am using Divining Top and Necropotence.

Should i still get Sylvan Library?

And how good is Nissa Voice of Zendikar? It looks like shes only good in the early game.

HighOnBuffs says... #25

Oh btw have you proxied and tested as Foretold?

I cant decide if its broken or just too slow tbh.
