but now the question arises of how the way multiple Rhox Faithmenders work they double and then double again and so on but that's separate instances of life gain so both this scenario and the multi rhox scenarios cant both be true

DjinnjerVitis says... #2

same would still hold true bc of it being a static effect, the rhox's would occur first, so in this scenario if we had 2 rhox's out, the math would be D&D 12 lost, 12 (+12) (+12) 36. then strionic ressy sanguine bond 2x so 108 lost plus the initial 12, so 120 lost, 36 gained. not a bad heavy hitting combo. albeit slow and not probable with this setup. i updated the verbiage up top so its more clear. thanks for pointing it out.

Having multiple Rhox Faithmender s in play just doubles the double. EX: faithmender says if you would gain.....gain twice that much INSTEAD. Rhox is a replacement effect. It replaces the orginal amount with a doubled amount and then if you have another in play it replaces THAT doubled amount with another doubled amount. So to keep it simple let's say you gain 1 (one) life but you have 2 (two) Rhox Faithmender on the field. One faithmender doubles the initial amount to 2 life gained. The second faithmender then doubles that to make it 4 (four) life gained.

your welcome DjinnjerVitis and yes that makes more sense your right that's the way to do it. Bellock86 I know that the question that arisen to me was would each trigger sanguine bond as there still life gaining events but it wouldn't he has it perfect.

August 6, 2013 3:35 p.m.

Bellock86 says... #5

Correct. Sanguine bond would actually trigger after the faithmenders because they are replacement (static) as mentioned previously. But that leads me to say that wouodnt that mean that sanguine bond would end up hitting opponent for 4x the orignal cost (which was 6 if I recall) for 24 life gained and then damage dealt would be 24x2 due to Strionic Resonator doubling Sanguine Bond ? This was what I understood from the description and conversation. Did I get the gist of it?

Cyber Locc says... #6

The original damage was 12 as debt cause double the mana to be gained lost 1 faith mender would make that 24 then sanguine bond would hit for 24 and the copy for another 24

Pyroshade says... #7

Rhox Faithmender s effect is a replacement effect, so you never gain the 12 from Debt to the Deathless you only gain 24, if you then trigger the Strionic Resonator on sanguine bond they lose 24 twice, making life lost 12+24+24= 60This is how it works, as Rhox Faithmender s effect will always come before sanguine bond due to it REPLACING the amount of life you actually gain, Hope that helps clear it up a little

I've come to value your, and cptjmaverick's opinion, you both seem to be very good at building the decks you build, I was wondering if you could chuck some advise my way on a new deck idea that I've had and really want to build? It would be great if you could :D

Thoughts...bene playtesting with Brave the Elements and its pretty nice. most of my creatures are white (save Crypt Ghast and Vampire Nighthawk ) and wondering if maybe itll be better than Silence ? to me, Silence is almost a 'win-more' card. now that i have Cavern of Souls i dont feel like i need it to prevent spells being countered. i can just use Brave the Elements to prevent removal; multiblock like a pro, or swing in for the win.

Finished 2nd at gamesday (standard), quite sad there was nothing to win :( , we were 8 and the first only won a playmat chandra m14.

and i spend 100$ to build the deck meh ... going sell it and stop play standard i think.

Keep in mind with Silence you can use it during your opponents upkeep meaning they have a turn they can't play anything, which is great for your early game where you have problems and denying an aggro decks important turn 2/3 or 44

Sorin, Lord of Innistrad really a farfetched idea?

August 12, 2013 1:15 a.m.

DjinnjerVitis says... #14

@Pyroshade thats a best case scenario for silence for me. albeit it does work; i just feel kinda unimpressed?

@mjolnir117 Sorin, Lord of Innistrad used to be in here, but he got dropped as i felt he was underperforming.

Well, I love this deck. I run it and after superfriends gave it to me hard (even with Pithing Needle), I thought maybe a mainboard Sorin would have universal goodness.

Very similar to a deck I just built. I couldn't ever get the Strionic Resonator to work and opted to run Elixir of Immortality for a 2 cost ability to gain a quick 5 life and possibly do at least 5 damage with Sanguine Bond and with rhox you're looking at double. If you have a chance check my deck out and give me some pointers, I'd really appreciate it. Sucks Harder than Twilight

Haunted Plate Mail could be quite legit in here.

@mjolnir117 honestly, that is one of my tougher matchups too. im assuming you are talking about the esper variation of superfriends. that is where my sideboard comes in. why its so heavily geared towards the esper matchup. Pithing Needle works when you draw it, Ratchet Bomb at 4 takes care of most of them. Sin Collector and Duress pull out their removals so you can get your creatures through, and Cavern of Souls in the mainboard protects your mostly vampire creatures from dreaded counter spell. Immortal Servitude and Rise of the Dark Realms are also useful here, but you gotta be lucky here (i typically dont run it in this matchup, as Crypt Ghast will never resolve)

DjinnjerVitis says... #19

@scizzler when Strionic Resonator works, it works well. but it is a bit more of a win-more card. it doesnt help u at all when losing; its usually one of the first cards i sideboard out. it does great in matchups against other midrange decks, as it makes my effects twice as effective. Elixir of Immortality is ok, i feel Bubbling Cauldron may be a better option for how you seem to be using it, as you can continue using it in response to losing a creature.

Quite an overhaul you've done on this, i like the inclusion of Brave the Elements in the side board, against certain decks it really can turn a game around. Why the choice of Orzhov Charm though?

August 19, 2013 5:44 a.m.

Pyroshade says... #21

just remembered a game i had the other day, but with a large amount of enchantments in your deck+sideboard, Ethereal Armor is great on any lifelink guy, and AMAZING on Vampire Nighthawk thanks to the firststrike bit on his deathtouch, if you include more enchantments i would consider it :)

I would reccomend Angelic Accord because of the sheer amount of lifegain possible in this deck. With Rhox and Obzedat out, that'll be popping out angels every turn.

@cptjmaverick well ive noticed a lot of decks in my area running Olivia Voldaren as of late, and of course Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip so Victim of Night is out for that also for my deck to work really well there's certain cards that have to be out, so Orzhov Charm will draw the removal. its still in heavy playtesting, but it survives rotation and im not a fan of Doom Blade .

August 20, 2013 10:52 a.m.

cptjmaverick says... #24

Yeah i agree post rotation i think Orzhov Charm is a better way to go providing the free hit the creature gets doesn't set you back too much... at least its flexible :) still shame theres nothing like Dreadbore for black white... what a fantastic card that is :)

DjinnjerVitis says... #25

no kidding. ive tried to work red in protoytype versions of this and including Olivia Voldaren myself but at 30 a piece and rotates no thank u.
