Wainwright thanks for the input. sorry for the delay on responding been caught up in things though I have been editing the deck since. A card I found that countered some token decks was AEtherize which I get to laugh about. as for the counter I settled with Psychic Strike in my SB since it also mills. the phalanx's do lots of work though I did remove one for Nighthowler s. I'm pleased to say it went 4-0 this past friday if you were interested in hearing. I'll definitely take a look at your deck when I have a chance.

I just want to like... not like your deck now. Run Rogue's Passage why do no mill decks run this card?!?!?! Make that Consuming Aberration a OHKO. Check out my deck? Budget Standard-Mill

I don't run the passage because I can do the same with thassa for half the mana. That's all. Never really liked rogue's passage. I'll definitely take a look at your deck though.

Crypt Incursion Although it doesn't combo well with ashiok trust me even if this card hits for three it's worth it. You will really enjoy having it. I used to play like the teir 1 esper control back with Nephalia Drownyard people would just look at you like da fuq? When you play it. Some would even ask why it's not a rare lol. Try it you might really like it

I love crypt incursion. It used to be part of the deck and then the sideboard I took it out cause it harmed my aberration to many times and the nighthowlers currently present get wiped by them although those may go out for phenax. Thanks for the input though. I may reintroduce it to the sideboard.

How does it hold up to mono-Blue/Black?

January 22, 2014 1:03 p.m.

dan8080 says... #7

I haven't had the chance to play it vs mono blue but I can say it is competitive against token decks.

Mono black it does fine win some lose some. Example would be that I lost one due to missing a thassa unblockable trigger for my aberration. But it makes them sweat if I can use my own devotion aids.

Pack rat mono black gives me some trouble but I made some changes since the last I changed it.

Hmmmmm....

I hate Consuming Aberration ....

But can't help but love this deck.

Very nicely done. I fear you. ;)

TDoubleE thanks for the compliment. hahaha define hate by the way. is it hate for the card itself or in this deck? also as it stands the Nighthowler s are most likely turning into Phenax, God of Deception once the new set comes out.

dan8080 It is a hate simply from playing AGAINST them. I love them when I am playing with them. But I often get into an instantly sour mood once my friend busts one out and tells me to count my graveyard. It is like an extra insult to personally count off how much is about to be swinging at me.

Especially when it has Paranoid Delusions ciphered on to it. Man, makes me angry just thinking about it! ;)

But no worries, it is simply a hate based out of fear. Thank god for Elixir of Immortality . lol

The elixir is partly why my sideboard runs Pithing Needle .

Wow, I love black/blue decks and would love to run a deck like this myself. Consuming Aberration is, indeed, an incredible card.

My own problem with owning a deck like this is that I have very little money, and can't quite afford cards like Desecration Demon , Nightveil Specter , and Thassa, God of the Sea , etc., let alone multiple copies of them. I was very lucky that a friend gave me a Consuming Aberration , and this very nice (and relatively well-off) person at FNM gave me two more, just because he saw that I liked Dimir mill decks and felt that he would never use or trade them. I've been very lucky to own any of the cards that I have, really.

Hey, if you could give me suggestions on how to improve either of my black/blue decks, it would be much appreciated. I'm relatively new to Magic, and you seem like you know how to put a good deck together. I got obliterated at my first FNM (and only one, so far), and I'd like some help improving.

Jaeryd17 thank you for the thoughts. We all get steam rolled at our first FNM. But yeah I actually managed to luck into pulling 3-4 thoughtseize in packs and flipped those for some of the pricier things, bought the specters right before they jumped to 10 and so on and so forth. A lot of luck went in to this deck in regards to affording the build. I'll definitely take a look at yours for you.

get rid omen speaker do you really need all that scry? Go with Frost Burns they can block better and even give devotion

February 10, 2014 4:18 p.m.

dan8080 says... #16

The scry is so amazing to have. My usual game goes T1 scry land, T2 omenspeaker, T3 depends on how those 2 scries went and usually sets me up for the long hall. The 4 of is strictly for better odds of drawing it if that's what you mean.

The scry also aids in my lack of needs for card draw since I'm still digging through my deck for what I need. And sometimes I hit a second omenspeaker on the first and I keep it at the second spot so when I draw it I play it as see my next two after that.

have you considered Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker ?

March 21, 2014 2:55 p.m.

dan8080 says... #19

benwah3000 thanks for the input, my problem with mirko is that aberration is just a lot better. mirko has to actually make contact, and this deck has a lot of 5 drops already phenax and consuming aberration combo together very nicely while mirko not so much. Mirko was in very early versions of this deck

I'm going to try adding a few counters strictly to take advantage of the nice amount of counters in standard right now

This deck is way too OP, i have little chance of winning against this deck, maybe 40% to 60%

dan8080 says... #22

Thank you for the compliment. It actually finished 4th outta 16 this past Friday going 3-1 only losing to the eventual winner running a super aggro white weenie deck.
